Will Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor, Really Stay on Lips for 16 Hours?

When I came across Revlon Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor, I was beyond excited to give it a try, because I already knew, and loved the Revlon ColorStay line in general. Their lip colors in particular are always bold, long lasting, and cost a price that I am comfortable paying.

Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor was one of the higher end lip products in the collection of ColorStay cosmetics, but I figured the $9 and change price tag only meant it worked better than the other available lipsticks and glosses. Not only that this newbie lipcolor promised to stay put on my lips for up to 16 hours.

I initially was going to buy another color in the Maybelline 24 collection since I had such wonderful success with a recent purchase. However when I saw the color Keep Blushing in the ColorStay Overtime collection, I had to have it.

Keep Blushing seemed to be a beautiful metallic colored pink, not too dark, or too light. I prayed on my lips it would give off the exact same color I was seeing in the tube.

Like most long lasting lipcolor, Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor also came as a 2 step system, only instead of featuring a lip conditioning stick of lip balm, Overtime came with a tube of clear lip gloss, which I suppose would act as the moisturizing balm.

Application:

Applying Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor was easy enough and worked in the same manner as any other long wear color. It comes in a tube as a double. One side is the lip color, the other the clear gloss overcoat.

The lipcolor itself goes on smooth and evenly, but the one issue I had was that the color looked more like a faded pink, with a silvery shimmer that made it appear to look like a baby pink, a very light baby powdery pink, which looked nothing like what the color looked like as a whole in the tube.

At any rate, I was disappointed with how light it really was, but wanted to put the color to the test before returning it for something darker. I wanted to see if this pink hue would stay put for up to 16 hours.

I let the formula dry and then applied the top coat, which feels like a more moisturizing silicone gloss than a sticky clear gloss. It feels nice actually, and allows the lips to shine.

This shine though does not last long.

But...does the color?

The color does last, and it lasts all day. About 3 hours into wear however lips will feel a little dry, and you will need to apply another coat of the moisturizing gloss. This however is not bad, because I was able to drink, eat, and smoke and the color still remained.

Overall:

Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor does in fact last, I wouldn't say a full 16 hours though, I get more around 8 hours of wear before fading is noticed. That is a really long time though for lipcolor to last. I still feel that Maybelline 24 is much, much better, and leaves lips feeling softer and more natural. However, Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor is worth the money spent. I wished that the color I purchased though was a little darker.
