For about a month or so now, I have had around $70.00 sitting in my
Amazon.com account. Luck was with me, and I won some e-certificates.
After browsing the site for weeks on end, I was clueless on what I
wanted. I felt that I could either wait and perhaps I would win more
Amazon certificates, or I could just splurge and purchase something I
didn't really need, but wanted.
Instead of splurging on something I had little knowledge about, I decided to use some of that money and buy Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup SPF 10 - Tawny.
I already knew that I love, love, loved the liquid foundation, and my
cousin told me that topping the Double Wear liquid foundation with the
powder would hold the fresh flawless look for much longer, and best of
all, the powder would keep shine at bay, and that I could touch up
throughout the day if needed.
The Promise:
According to the website, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place
Powder Makeup SPF 10- Tawny gives you a flawless full finish. If you
apply the powder with a brush, the results will look powdery. If you
apply with the added sponge, the results are the same you would get if
you had put on foundation. Versatile! Yeah baby!
Did I also mention that they promise long lasting cover? Ah yes
Indeed. Like the liquid Double Wear foundation, the powder basically
promises the same. I hoped so, because I loved the liquid foundation,
and it lasted seriously all day, flawlessly.
Packaging:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup SPF 10- Tawny
comes in a cardboard mini blue box with the products name on it. Inside
of the box you have a dark navy blue round plastic compact.
Nothing special about this compact. Its pretty much the same as any.
Inside you have a round application sponge, your powder, and a small
mirror.
The Color Tawny:
Tawny is meant for those with medium light skin tone. It wouldn't go
well on those with very light porcelain skin. For me, Tawny nearly
matches perfectly to my actual skin tone.
My Use:
I applied Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup SPF 10-
Tawny with the included sponge applicator. Sponge applications tend to
blend powder in to my face better than a brush would, and I have never
been one to like a powdery looking face.
I ran the applicator around the powders palette, collected some color,
and began to apply. I noticed immediately a difference in the spot I
had just applied the powder. The look was clean, matte, flawless, and
provided full cover to problem areas.
I was impressed. After fully covering my face and realizing that my
look was probably the most flawless it had been in quite some time I
wanted to buy an entire factory filled with this powder! This glorious
powder that not only gave me even skin tone, but it also blended in so
well you could not even tell I was wearing anything.
I also loved how light it felt. I have used quite a few powders that would weigh my skin down, or worse, make my skin shine.
Last:
Did I mention how much I loved Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup SPF 10- Tawny? I say that in past tense.
I say that in past tense because Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup SPF 10- Tawny (unlike it's sister liquid foundation) has absolutely no last. I applied some on my face in the morning, and by the time noon rolled around, my face looked a mess.
I had shiny spots, patches of powder too dark in some areas, and my
skin was shining in it's usual shine zones. I should have applied Double
Wear Liquid Foundation before adding the powder!
Even after doing just that the next day though, the results were the same. No last whatsoever.
Overall:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup SPF 10- Tawny
would have been a truly perfect powder makeup, unfortunately the cover
only lasts for a short amount of time. When it begins to wear it also
clumps up in areas on your face creating an uneven and messy look.
I really wanted to love this one, but it failed to win me over.
