I've never been much of a lipstick wearer. I find it annoying to have to
re-apply on a constant basis, as every lipstick I've generally ever
used has absolutely no last. Granted lipstick is a nice way to beautify
yourself really quickly, but by the same token, it's a hassle finding
one that actually has long lasting color.
This past holiday my cousin included a lipstick in a basket of beauty supplies she made herself, for me.
Clinique Different Lipstick in a shade called Tenderheart.
Pink colored lipsticks usually are the colors I purchase when I
actually do rarely purchase them, so when I saw Tenderhearts color, I
was not too sure I'd like it. It has a very dark deep maroon like
coloring to it, that I did not think would look good on my lighter skin
tone.
Packaging:
Clinique Different Lipstick- Tenderheart comes in 2 different types of tubes that I am aware of.
One tube is a light minty colored green, which makes the lipstick look like cheap dollar store lipstick.
The other tube Tenderheart comes in is a shiny metal rigid tubing
which makes the lipstick look a little more high end. Honestly though,
no matter what tube you manage to find Tenderheart in, it is the same
formula.
I have gotten lipsticks from Clinique in both types of tubes, and I
find that the plastic green tubing is better because it keeps the lid on
tighter. The metal tube actually slides off easier, and at times I've
had the cap slide off while in my purse. Not a pretty sight, especially if your purse is an expensive one!
My Use:
Seeing that my cousin gave it to me and was watching me, I applied some immediately so I wouldn't offend her. Hehe!
Clinique Tenderheart glides on smoothly, and really adds a moisturizing touch to the lips, which I liked.
The color was actually a lot nicer on my lips than it looked in it's
tube. It's dark, but has more of a brownish burnt look mixed with a
subtle touch of bronzed orange. The lipstick itself gives off a high
gloss shimmery coating which makes it pop.
Last:
Now normally when I find a lipstick shade I actually like, it has one major flaw. The last is never long.
When it came to Clinique Different Lipstick- Tenderheart, the last was pretty pathetic.
I applied the lipstick, and no less than 10 minutes later all traces
of the high gloss sheer, and nice color were gone. Evaporated into a
land where all short lasting lipstick colors go. God knows where?
The moisturizing feeling the lipstick left behind on my lips was also gone.
Overall:
Not many lipstick's have a long last, but some actually stick around
for a good hour or so. Clinique Tenderheart barely stuck around for an
entire 10 minutes, which was just lame. There is no way in hell I'm
re-applying it every 10 minutes, so it's relatively useless to me.
All in all, it's a nice color, but what good is nice color when it fails to stick around?
Pricing:
I managed to find Tenderheart being sold on Amazon for $14.00 a tube.
I'd recommend you pass it up. I've had $2.00 tubes of lipstick last
longer than this one.
