So the concept goes like this: The eyeshadow is made in a pure liquid
form, when you apply it, it will melt into your eyelids, creating a long
lasting, budge free, and crease free sparkling eye.
When I was first given a glass tube of Chanel Ombre D'Eau Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow,
I had no idea how this liquid shadow would even be workable on my
eyelid. I'm used to blending more than one color on my eyelid to create
contours. It seemed that this stuff would just ooze right off of my eye,
and run down my face.
The color I got was pretty though, it was a fairy like green color,
very light, subtle, and pretty. They called it Beach, but this color is
no longer being made. Luckily they have a slew of other colors that work
just like this one.
The main reason I was so turned off by Chanel Ombre D'Eau Fluid
Iridescent Eyeshadow was that it is in fact a liquid shadow. I have used
cream shadows, and never liked them. I've been using Pigment Powders
for nearly 2 years and love them to death, switching from my $20 for 12
colors of Pearl EX, Pigment Powders was not going to come easy, and I
doubted this $30.00 Chanel liquid eyeshadow would win me over enough to
make me switch over.
I twisted the cap off of the small glass vial, inside sat the
applicator wand. It has a sponge tip which allows you to swipe it across
the eye.
Over a clean eye I took my first stab at Chanel Ombre D'Eau Fluid
Iridescent Eyeshadow. It is very watery, and spread across my eye in one
quick cold sweep. The shimmer was very silver in some areas, but a
little watery and lacking sheen and color in other places. I figured I
would maybe need 2 swipes in order to get the color to fully show up on
my eyelid.
2 coats later, and my eyelid was happily covered in the beautiful sea
green color. I really liked the shimmering effect, and usually I'm a
matte kind of person. If you are also a matte eyeshadow lover, you can
use this stuff for highlighting the upper brow bone.
However before recommending you do that, you are probably wondering if
the color lasted, if it creased up, and all of that stuff.
Well the liquid shadow does not crease up, but it does not last nearly
as long as pigment powders. It has a long life, but it will not be as
pretty and colorful by mid-day, and re-applying this one is way too
difficult and messy if you are on the run. In order for the color to
even look somewhat presentable you have to blend it in a little bit with
your finger, otherwise you'll have a high beam mirror like shiny on
just the area you swiped the wand across.
Reapplying this after applying eyeliner is just about impossible, so
that is another huge factor on why I don't like this one very much.
All in all though, the color is nice, the shimmer nice, but for me, it
just does not last long enough for me to fully recommend it, especially
at the $30.00 price tag attached to this stuff!
