How Well Does Maybelline's New Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation Work?

About a year or so ago I fell in love with Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse concealer. It came in a little glass jar, and went onto my face like feathery air.

When I saw that they were making the Dream Mousse into a liquid foundation I was intrigued, and had to give it a try. I wanted to see if it was as light as a feather on my face as their previous product.
I came across it a few days ago in my local Target for $6.99, which seemed like a steal compared to what I usually pay for foundations.

I went with a color that looked like it would match me best. What sucks about it though is being able to test it before buying it. Sometimes foundations are much darker than they appear in the glass. I went with a simple nude beige color.

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation comes in a glass tube, with a convenient little pump located at the top.

The pump seems a bit poorly made, and honestly I feel that if I were to toss it into my purse, eventually it may crack or break. The cap that comes with the foundation is also pretty cruddy. It falls right off, and is pretty much a waste of plastic.

Application:

Before testing this stuff out, I of course washed my face entirely. Makeup lasts longer on clean moisturized skin, so I recommend you do the same.

After drying up, I squeezed some of the Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation onto my finger, and went to work (You can use a foundation brush if you want as well).

I was initially surprised at how so little could go so far. It spread onto my skin like butter, but it definitely did not have that light soothing feeling like their Matte Mousse does. It was light, I will give it that, but far from being what I would consider a mousse.

The color was flawless, but did not hide every imperfection quite like L'Oreal's Double Wear is capable of doing.

Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation though did cover up minor imperfections such as uneven skin tone, or red blemishes.

All in all, I would definitely not call this one an 'airbrush finish'. For me it was sub-standard.

Grease Factor:

Now I have odd skin. I have areas that get very oily looking, and other areas on my face that have dry patches. They call it combination dry/oily skin. Yay!

Now most foundations are wonderful when it comes to adding moisturization to my drier areas. However my oily spots pose the problem.

I don't like my skin shining at all. It disgusts me. Oily greasy foreheads ewwww!!!

Some foundations do a superb job at concealing oily spots, while others seem to clog my pores, so my skin will shine even worse.

I'm sure you're wondering how well Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation does when it comes to keeping shine away?

Well, the foundation concealed any signs of oily skin for close to 2 hours. After that, I noticed my forehead was starting to 'light' up a bit. This was easy to clear up with a quick powdering to my forehead, however I do not have to do this at all when I use CoverGirl's new Olay/CoverGirl foundation.

Overall Opinion:

For a fast quick easy touch up this stuff works great, however I would never consider this one my primary foundation. It does not do the things that other foundations on the market are able to do.
