Nearly a decade ago I discovered my own personal trend, I called it my
own trend because I was the only one ever sporting a thin line of
glitter eyeliner on top of my black eyeliner for a bold, out there look.
As time passed though I was no longer able to find glitter eyeliner
being sold anywhere. This past holiday season though brought back a
blast from my past. Although it is not the cheap Claire's version, I
figured Urban Decay would get it right, and bring back an old look that I
still would wear. When I stumbled upon a collection of their glitter
eyeliner called Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner, I went ahead and purchased the one color that resembled the color I had 10 years ago. Air Guitar!
Air Guitar is a light sea blue in color, and from past history with
the blue eyeliner glitter, is that when placed on top of black eyeliner
it would look even lighter, yet still give off a gorgeous blue glow,
without overpowering the entire eyelid.
The eyeliner brush works flawlessly, and glitter sticks to it without
an issue allowing you to just swipe it over your lids for a neat precise
line of glitter.
Air Guitar left behind a nice blue tint, but not what I was hoping,
the tint was more silver than blue. At any rate though, silver tint, or
blue tint, the results were beautiful. On top of black eyeliner is the
way to go, if you really want the results to show best. You can add it
to nude eyelids, but it ends up looking more sloppy than put together.
When applying Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner it is best to
leave your eyes closed for a few moments after applying it, that way
none of the glitter bleeds and sticks to your upper lid crease. You will
be able to feel the eyeliner on your eyes as it goes on wet. When the
wet feeling is gone, you can go ahead and open your eyes.
The Last:
One thing that worried me about this glitter eyeliner was ow it would
hold, and how it would last. In the past using cheap glitter eyeliners
would sometimes result in a mess, such as glitter drying up and flaking
on to my face, or upper lid.
When it comes to Urban Decay, what you see is what you get. The
glitter will not budge, so you do not have to worry about glitter
flaking off all over your face. Where you apply it, is where it will
stay until you remove it with whatever form of makeup removal you use.
Overall:
The thing about this glitter eyeliner is that it worked just as well
as the tube sets I used to buy 10 years ago for only $3.00. Urban Decay
Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner comes to $18.00 on nearly every website it
is available. I scooped it up for a little less on Amazon, but still it
was expensive.
The thing is, these glitter eyeliners are definitely not worth the
$18.00 price tag. Granted the eyeliner works really well, you can scoop
up lower priced glitter eyeliner for far less. If you really think you
need this, then by all means go ahead and splurge as they work well.
Personally I would like to see these going for $5.00 each as that seems
more reasonable.
