When I came across L'Oreal HiP High Intensity Pigments Cream Shadow
Paint, Steely, I was more than excited because it was the color that I
was looking for ever since I fell in love with the line.
I have always been fond of neutral/natural colors such as browns,
greens, and of course the most flattering color on my lids, black.
According to the color that the package displays on its small sticker,
Steely is not quite black, it is a mixture of gray smoke and charcoal,
and the color was one I knew I would likely use more than all others in
the collection.
Packaging:
Like all L'Oreal Cream Shadow Paints, Steely is packaged in the same
manner. It comes in a small rectangular shaped plastic compact, with a
shadow brush, and a small squared off area that is meant to be used to
squeeze some of the shadow into for use with the brush.
My Use:
When I went ahead to use Steely, I was surprised that the color was
more black than the package made it out to be. The package actually
makes it seem that this color is going to be a smoked gray. On my eyelid
though it was more black than it was anything else. It is a faded
black, yes; but it definitely is more black than gray.
Steely is creamy and it glides easily across the eyelid. t is also
very easy to manipulate into different wear on the eye. If you want to
just add a small line across the lid, you can do it. If you want to fill
in the lid, you can also do that. The easy manipulation is why I
continue to buy these shadow paints.
The unfortunate thing about it though is that the shadow dries fast,
and once it dries you can no longer add more, or blend. If you do, you
will end up with streaks around the lid which are quite unflattering.
Although you do have time to blend the shadow around, you do have to
do it quickly, and without error, otherwise you will have to start all
over again.
Overall:
L'Oreal HiP High Intensity Pigments Cream Shadow Paint, Steely is a
gorgeous color, it is easy to blend until it dries. A little also goes a
long way with this shadow paint, so you do not have to use a lot of the
shadow in order to fill in the entire eye.
Recommended?
Although it dries a little fast, it is really excellent shadow paint
and I highly recommend it. The convenient packaging makes taking this
stuff on the go an awesome addition to an already awesome cosmetic.
Where To Buy:
You can pretty much find Steely, and all other colors in the
collection at just about any superstore. You can find it ranging
anywhere from $10.00-$12.00.
