I personally have never been fond of Milani Cosmetics. About a
year ago I bought a gorgeous lip gloss which looked gorgeous in the
plastic tube, yet when I applied it, it seriously felt as if I had just
wiped tar onto my lips, with a taste to match the texture. Blech!
This past week though while picking up a prescription for my mom, my
cousin who was with me spotted a NEW rack that was dressed up pretty
fancily. I don't blame her for her curiosity. Even I was impressed by
the store display.
The moment I saw the brand though, I began to walk away. Milani! Blech!
My cousin though has this way about her though when we shop together.
She somehow convinces me that I neeeed to buy it. (I know that is
because she wants to use it). Me being Ms. Gullible, went ahead and
began to search through the available colors. But ah, how convenient,
she already had two gorgeous colors that she promised would blend in
together to create an awesome spring colored eye.
The first color she showed me was a light pale green called Leaf
Green. It was pretty, and I had never used green colors before. Next she
showed me Shamrock. This was a darker, more mossy colored green, which
she claimed would look really nice in the outer corners of the eye. I
began to imagine the results in my mind. I even used her face as my
minds eye palette, and you know...she was right? I could picture these
tow colors mixing well, and looking quite nice. Plus I have green
eyes... maybe it would bring them out more?
About 5 minutes later, I somehow managed to allow my cousin to
convince me that Milani was a good brand company. Before I knew it I was
checking out both colors.
Today's focus is Milani RUNWAY EYES, Wet and Dry Eye Color: Shamrock.
Packaging:
Milani RUNWAY EYES, Wet and Dry Eye Color: Shamrock,
comes in a small plastic palate with a lame ol' curved brush which I
imagine they included to blend. The compact also managed to squeeze in a
very small sponge applicator, which is attached to the other side of
the brush. I never use these included brushes, and I recommend you buy
yourself a nice professional set of brushes for best results.
Color:
As stated earlier, Shamrock is a darker moss green. The reason I liked
the color though was because it wasn't that dark, dark green that many
eye shadows have. It was dark enough for great shading, yet light enough
as to where you wouldn't look like a bruised up freak after applying.
The shadow has very fine flecks of green colored shimmer in it, which
truly stand out. The best part being, the shimmer is just not sprinkled
on the top like a lot of companies do. The flecks of shimmer are all
throughout, so that is a very cool plus.
My Use:
I used my own brush to apply Milani RUNWAY EYES, Wet and Dry Eye Color: Shamrock.
The color collected on my brushes tip with ease, and I applied it to
the outer areas of my eye lids. The result was stunning. Color seemed to
easily stick to my skin (DO USE A BASE FOUNDATION FOR BEST COLOR RESULTS!),
and best of all color went where I put it. I didn't have small flakes
of the shadow collecting to my cheeks, or under eyes as I applied.
Last:
I always add a base of foundation on my lids first. This ensures longer lasting color. With a base, Milani RUNWAY EYES, Wet and Dry Eye Color: Shamrock
lasted for the entire day. No signs of wear, creasing, or fading. My
lids looked as if it were freshly applied throughout the day.
Overall:
I never thought would say I liked anything by Milani, but truly Milani RUNWAY EYES, Wet and Dry Eye Color: Shamrock managed to impress me with the rich vibrant colors, that are dramatic, yet subtle at the same time.
Shamrock in particular, mixed with Leaf Green is simply a gorgeous combination for spring and summer wear.
Highly, highly recommended. I truly and boldly will say that Milani delivers an eyeshadow that can easily
be compared to MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadows. At $4.00 each, it's totally
worth it, plus it is major cheap compared to MAC Shadows, and they work
just as well.
Milani RUNWAY EYES, Wet and Dry Eye Color: Shamrock gets 5 out of 5 stars from me.
