Must Have Hair Care Products for Those with Frizzy Hair Frizz Be Gone!

I've always had thick frizzy hair. I hate it, and honestly the only way I can tame the extreme frizz that I have going on is by using my straightening iron on it.

Besides just a straight iron though there are numerous products that keep my straightened hair from frizzing back up. As we all know, even if you straighten your hair, humidity and rain could be a total destroyer; transforming your straightened hair, back into the frizzy fluffy mess it truly is.

One product that does a world of good for those with frizzy hair is John Frieda's collection of Frizz Ease products.

My favorite has always been Frizz-Ease Crème Serum Overnight Repair Formula. Besides keeping frizz and fly aways at bay, this formula also repairs dry, damaged hair. It's like a 3 in 1, and it works rather well.

The unfortunate thing about the cream though is that it only keeps frizz at bay for a limited amount of time. You will have to re-apply the serum in your hair mid-day, especially on more humid days.
There has to be something better!

There is actually.

It's called Infusium 23 (Frizz) Ologie. It is a leave in treatment that not only keeps hair protected from frizz, but it also leaves you hair smelling fresh and feminine. Besides that though, (Frizz) Ologie restores smoothness of the hair.

You can pick this up on Amazon, as it is a little difficult to obtain in stores. You can also use the original Infusium 23 leave in treatment. It does not work as well when combating frizz, but it comes pretty damn close.

Another simple way to combat frizz would be to use a wide pin brush. Bristle brushes actually add more frizz to the hair. A cheap and simple solution would be to purchase a Pin Brush. I use a Conair, and I picked it up at Walmart for $6.00. For an example click here.

Hair treatments also will combat frizz. Using deep conditioning treatments smooth out the hair, and keep frizz away. There are many, many different treatments you could use. One particular treatment you may want to check out is L'Oreals Nature's Therapy Unfrizz Smoothing Treatment.

I apply this in loads to damp hair. I make sure each strand of hair is saturated in the formula. I then place a plastic bag over my head to seal in heat and moisturization. After about 30 minutes I rinse.

You can even use cheaper deep moisturizing conditioners in the same manner. Just be sure to leave it in your hair for 30 minutes before rinsing. I find that the longer the treatment sits in the hair, the better the results are when I'm finished.

Do It Yourself!

A very simple treatment to combating frizzy hair can be made right at home.

You will need mayonnaise and an egg. I plop a hearty amount of mayonnaise into a bowl, and then crack open an egg and mix it into the mayonnaise. I know it sounds absolutely disgusting but it is really healthy for the hair. Not only will it combat frizz, but it will also treat dry and damaged hair as well.

Consider this at home treatment a stinky trip to the spa, because your hair will thank you for it.

I add the mixture of egg and mayo to dry hair, and place a plastic bag over my head when I'm finished. I let the mayo egg mixture sit in my hair for around 30 minutes, and then I rinse.

You may want to add some scented conditioner to your hair as well because the mayo and egg fix does have a high potent sour stink to it. Adding a handful of your favorite scented conditioner helps. I also recommend adding scented lotion to hair when it is dry to mask any left over mayo stink.

Other easy treatments for frizzy hair is to buy shampoos and conditioners that promise to smooth.

Smooth hair equals less frizz.

Pantene in particular is known to offer tons of smoothing shampoos and conditioners. Although they will not work wonders alone, using them in addition to smoothing creams and gels will.

Try Pantene Pro-V Smoothing All Day Frizz Defense Cream.

It is a leave in treatment that you can add to towel dried hair after taking a shower. It keeps hair smoother, and less frizzy.

All in all there are plenty of products one can use to combat frizz and puffiness. Over the years I have found though that if you keep up with combating frizz it eventually subsides on its own. Consider it training your hair. It takes awhile, but if yo honestly keep up with it, frizz becomes less and less a hassle.

As stated earlier, the absolute best treatment for frizzy hair is running a straight iron through it. A few quick strokes to hair, and frizz will immediately be tamed.
I personally prefer the Chi Iron.
