After discovering that the bottle of NARS Liquid Eyeliner in the color
called Showgirl was priced at $27.50 I was hyped to give this stuff a
try. My uncle who works around rich folks all of the time is literately
given boxes filled with expensive label products that they use once,
dislike it, and just give it away. A lot more thoughtful than just
tossing it.
Seeing how he is a dude, he brings them out for my mother and I, who have a ball with whatever goodies are in the boxes.
Is NARS Showgirl Liquid Eyeliner worth $27.50 though?
After inspecting it, there would be no way in hell I'd cough up that
much money for eyeliner. It looked typical to me. Like something I could
get for $5.00. However things cannot be judged by their packaging.
NARS Liquid Eyeliner Showgirl comes in a square shaped glass pot, with
a black screw off cap. When I first saw the bottle mixed in with the
other products, I immediately thought it was nail polish. That is really
the only way to describe it. I had no clue this stuff was for my eyes
till reading the bottle more closely.
The Color:
Showgirl is a nice light gold shimmer colored liner. The liner itself
is cream base, and comes with a small liner brush. I however used a
liner brush of my own, which I prefer over the freebies that come with
products.
Anyhow, I liked the color, and figured it would look smoking hot if I
first applied a layer of black eyeliner, and then a very thin layer of
NARS Showgirl right above the black liner, for a double liner, double
color effect, which always looks nice.
My Use:
I dipped my little liner brush into the small hole in the pot (which is about the same size as a nail polish bottle has) and collected some of the color. I then slowly and precisely began to line my black eyeliner with a small line of Showgirl.
The color seemed to scream in it's light sun kissed bronze color
glory. I loved it, and knew that a little bit of Brown, Bobby Brown Eye
Shadow above it would finish the look.
The texture is nice. It has a cream base, and glides over the eyelid
effortlessly. It takes about 30 seconds or so for the liner to fully
dry, so try not to blink or touch it while it is drying to prevent
smudges.
Last:
NARS Liquid Eyeliner, Showgirl stood in place for the entire day.
There were no signs of smudging, fading, or creasing into the lids.
Overall:
NARS Liquid Eyeliner, Showgirl is a really sweet liquid eyeliner to
work with. It has the perfect texture for easy application, lasts long,
and is a gorgeous color. I seriously have no complaints about the liner
at all... but
Would I spend $27.50 on this after I run Out?
To be honest? No. I wouldn't purchase this on my own. I was given the
product for free, and am grateful, and loved how it worked, and the
color is really pretty for both summer and fall wear. However, there are
many liquid liners that will give the same effect for half the price
NARS asks.
All in all though, if you have the money to burn and need name brand
labels in your purse, I would recommend it, simply because the color
lasts for the entire day without smudging. If not, stick to something
you can pick up at CVS for $5.00.
Where To Buy:
I'm a makeup junkie, and I will be honest and say I had never heard
much about NARS until receiving this bottle of liner for free. I don't
know where it is sold, but I was ale to locate the official website
online, where NARS products are sold.
