I've always had large pores on my cheeks and on areas on my nose. They
are not HUMONGO pores, but whenever I'm picking at my eyebrows in my 10X
mirror, they look like mini caves to me. Caves for dirt and oil to
hide, caves that can and will break out into nasty little zits if not
taken care of.
In my time I have tried SO many different products that promised to
shrink pores, minimize pores, or in some cases, get rid of them
completely. Almost 95% of those products failed to show even a subtle
difference.
When I came across Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser, I was interested
in giving it a try. Why I had missed this one on the shelves before is
beyond me, because nowhere on the tube did it say it was new.
Guess when
they hide things on bottom shelves I tend to miss them, because that is
exactly where I found Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser; bottom shelf
at my local Target.
The Promise:
According to the white tube, using Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser
would visibly reduce the appearance of pores just by washing my face. It
sounded too good, and all too easy.
According to the package and the website describing Neutrogena Pore
Refining Cleanser, the cleanser uses micro-beads to wash away dead
surface skin, and refines rough and patchy skin, while penetrating deep
into my pores, which in turn will make them smaller.
I was a bit baffled. I've used tons of products with micro-beads, and
none of them were able to shrink pores. But hippity hey hey hoe...I'll
try it out for size.
My Use:
I got home, clicked up the cap to the tube, and squeezed some of the
cleanser into my palms. The color was a very bright white, and reminded
me of toothpaste, the texture was a bit slimy, but as soon as I ran some
water onto the cleanser, and began scrubbing it into my face I
immediately was able to feel the very small grainy micro-beads.
Scent:
The scent of Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser hit me first, and to be
honest it was nothing pleasant at all. In fact it smelled quite gross,
and reminded me of that nasty scent that Jacuzzi's have. I don't know
why...I just hate that scent! Like swampy water with chlorine.
Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser smells just like this. Jacuzzi water!
Results:
I knew I wouldn't see any drastic results the first time using it.
Duh. However the first time using the cleanser it did leave my skin
feeling very clean, and really soft. In fact my dryer areas on my face
were no longer present. I had even skin tone. I liked the results, but
wondered if it would live up to its promise.
Long Term Results:
Every product needs to be tested for at least an entire month before one can fully say 'it works' or 'it sucks'.
I have been using Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser for close to a
month now, and can honestly say that I see a very nice difference. My
pores don't look microscopic, and some of the larger ones are still
visible. However with that said, I will say that Neutrogena Pore
Refining Cleanser keeps my skin tone so even and flawless that I can't
really say anything bad about it (besides the Jacuzzi smell).
Overall:
Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser is a winner. Although it only will
slightly reduce the size of pores, it does a world of wonders for your
skin in other ways.
I spent $5.97 on the 6.7 ounce tube. Highly, highly recommended.
