I've tried every single perfume that Paris Hilton has released to the
market. Although I find that only one of her fragrances is worthy of
buying over and over again, most of the others are just dust in the
wind. I bought it, I smelled it, I hated it, I moved on.
Yet time and time again, and new release, after new release, I have to have it.
The most recent perfume I was given was Siren. I used to
follow the Paris Hilton trends and keep up to what scents she was
releasing, but she sort of sat on the back burner for a long time, and
googling her name stopped crossing my brain.
The moment she vanished she pops up again with 2 newer fragrances I
had no clue about. Siren, and Fairy Dust. I obtained both rather fast
this Christmas, and was happy to have gotten them. I like perfume, any
perfume really. It's a gift that never grows old, a surprise in a
bottle.
Siren did surprise me too, I absolutely loved the gift set that it
came in. My set came packaged with a large 3.4 ounce bottle, with a tube
of Siren body lotion.
The packaged featured a picture of Paris herself sitting on a rock,
with the ocean smashing upon the rock behind her. She's wearing a rather
tacky mermaid suit. The reason I had to mention the package was because
I liked it, but couldn't for the life of me figure out why the very
bottom of her fanned out tail was stuck in the water. Instead of looking
like a mermaid, the cut off portion of the suit made it look like an
idiot in a tight prom dress, sitting on a rock.
The mermaid vibe was there though nonetheless, leaving me with the
impression that Siren would have a beachy scent to it. Maybe like Miami
Glow by Jennifer Lopez, or maybe Nautica Blue.
The bottle was also really cute and worthy of saving once the perfume
is gone. It comes packaged in a clear bottle which has a distinct shape
of a fish, or fish tail.
The Scent:
At first spritz I was not really in heaven. It had a masculine ring to
it with an old lady rose like undertone which stuck around a little
longer than I liked. However as the scent began to fade down a bit it
gave off a much more woodsy amber scent that I was pleased with. Amber
is a favorite of mine, and noticing it in Siren was a nice surprise.
As the scent fades more it smells more like an outdoorsy woods scent,
with a floral sweetness to it. I can even make note of a very small
familiar fragrance that came from the original Paris Hilton fragrance.
The Last:
Most of you are probably wondering how long Siren lasts. A perfume can
smell fantastic, but it's completely worthless if it has no last. Most
of Hilton's fragrances are short lived scents, Siren however is one of
the first scents in her collection to impress me as far as last goes.
One small spritz to my neck and wrist and Siren was detectable for
quite a long amount of time. It got a two thumbs up from me in the last
department, and not many fragrances impress me with their lasting
quality. Siren won me over though; Siren gets recognition.
Overall:
I like it. It's more mature than the other scents in her collection.
It's outdoorsy, and feminine all in one. It's not my favorite in the
collection, but it definitely is my second favorite, and I would buy it
again. One thing about Siren though that confuses me is that it does not
at all remind me of anything beachy, so the whole mermaid theme is just
weird. In my opinion its a more winter scent, with a snowy theme. Not a
beach scent in the least.
