Creme De La Mer is a cosmetic brand I never in my life thought would get
the opportunity to review. This creme, is basically the cream de la
crop when it comes to facial care. Celebrities are rumored to use this
stuff religiously for that glowing Hollywood skin that many of them
sport.
When my uncle came into town with a bag filled with cosmetics for my
mother and I, I was shocked to see that Creme De La Mer was included in
the mix.
Although the jar I was given was no huge $1,300 16.5 ounce jug, I was happy enough with my mini 1 ounce travel sized jar.
What The Heck Is So Special?
To be honest the price of this creme is what intrigued me first. Such
an expensive creme better damn well live up to its price. Before even
beginning to use my Creme De La Mer, I first went online to check out
its promises, and benefits of use.
Now according to the company, Creme De La Mer, using this creme over
time create results that are being called miraculous. In short amounts
of time, the skin supposedly will become softer, firmer, and virtually
crease-less.
Well well well... I would have to see it to believe it.
I figured I had plenty of creme in my 1 once jug to use this creme
daily. A pea sized amount spread around my face would keep me covered
for a good 2 or 3 months. If I noticed a sign of improvement in a month,
I would be sure to order another 1 ounce jug off of ebay for a better
discount.
Appearance:
Creme De La Mer didn't look too appetizing. As a matter of fact it's
the same color as mud or poop. It has a silky watery texture to it that
is not greasy or nasty. To me it looks gross, but by no means was the
appearance of this stuff going to stop me from using it.
I've so far been using Creme De La Mer for a good solid month now, and
figured I may as well take my readers on my one month journey while
using Creme De La Mer.
Scent:
Creme De La Mer does not really have a strong scent to it, it does
however give off a very light and subtle musty musky scent that you will
notice if you sniff it while in the jar. Only in quantity does it seem
to give off scent. When you take a dip of it and spread it around your
face though you won't smell a thing. For the most part it smells like
those nasty fake tan in a can lotions, only much more subtle.
My Use:
Creme de la Mer is pretty ugly looking, but I went ahead and used some
on my face and neck. My face recently has gotten a bad sunburn, and my
skin is slightly peeling. I figured if anything would be able to take
care of this issue it would be this creme right? I mean its supposed to
moisturize and be beneficial to my skin and all of that good stuff
right?
Before mentioning how it worked though I will say that a little goes a
long way. You can dab just one finger into this creme, and spread it
around your entire face and neck. A small pea sized amount of the creme
will do just fine.
The creme spread very easily, and feels really nice on the skin. It
does not leave behind a greasy texture, a sticky texture or anything
disgusting like that. It absorbs quite fast.
However (yep there is a however) after it absorbs it does not
leave skin very moisturized. My skin felt slightly moisturized, but
nothing spectacular that a common cheap run of the mill lotion couldn't
do.
The feeling of moisturization also didn't last that spectacularly
long. It also did nothing for when it came to improving my dry skin
areas. I was pretty disappointed with the whole La Mer hype.
I have been using Creme de la Mer for over 2 weeks now on a daily
basis. It has not improved my skin in the least bit. It did however
cause 3 pimples to pop up over night!
Overall:
For me Creme De La Mer Moisturizing Cream is nothing more than a
facial lotion with a high end price! Too high end. You can get similar
results with $5.00 facial moisturizers.
A 1 ounce jar of Creme de la Mer will run you anywhere from $130.00- $1,390, depending on where you buy it. The official site sells the 1 ounce jug for $130, scoop it up on ebay for less if you still feel that you need to try it.
