I have never been one to spend over $10.00 on any lip color. That
includes lipstick, and especially lip gloss. This past week though my
cousin has been telling me all about this new collection by Estee
Lauder, and of course I became intrigued by it.
The collection is a bunch of new lip glosses, and she swore by it, so I
went ahead and checked out the available colors on the official Estee
Lauder website.
The collection as it turns out is made by a Tom Pecheux, called Pure
Color. Initially I wanted Raspberry Pop, because it has this beautiful
purple like sparkle added to the pink tinted gloss. I was told though
that Frivolous Pink Sparkle gave me more options because it goes
on clear, so I would be able to wear it over just about any lipstick
color for a beautiful shimmery sparkly glow.
When I finally had Frivolous Pink Sparkle in hand, I was pretty
excited to give it a try. First I tried it alone, and then on top of a
pink lipstick.
Appearance:
In the tube Frivolous Pink Sparkle does not look like anything special
as far as gloss goes. It has a really pretty light pink base to it,
with a high beam sparkly effect created by really micro-flecks of
glitter. In the tube, the glitter appears to have a golden shimmer to
it, but on the lips, if you look closely, the effect is more of a
hologram rainbow. Rest assured though, the fleck are so micro, that you
cannot tell your lips have rainbow sparkles on them.
My Use:
On plain nude lips, Frivolous Pink Sparkle does not do much for me. It
shines them up and makes them look really glossy, but as far as
impressing me with its color, or sparkling effect, I have to say I was
let down.
I figured that once I wiped this off, and then added my usual lip
color, that this gloss would give me the type of glossy sparkled finish I
was hoping for.
I applied my lip color, then swiped on a nice dab of Frivolous Pink
Sparkle on top of the color. The effect was similar. It gave my lips a
high beam shine, that was not bad, but for the price of $20.00 I was
also not very impressed.
The gloss goes on nicely, as in, it has a nice texture, and you cannot
at all feel the flecks of glitter, however the gloss does not last
long, and you have to consistently re-apply it.
Overall:
For me, this gloss just does not do me any justice. I did not get the
results I was hoping for, the gloss does not last long on the lips, and
for this price, I could have bought a bunch of tubes of low end glosses,
and gotten the same effect.
