Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector
promised to give me smooth and sleek locks in just 20 minutes. It all
sounded great, even looked great on the box, however I had a feeling
that it would not do much of anything for my hair type. You see, I have
very thick, very wild, curly hair, and in order to smooth the frizz down
in my hair, I need to use gel, and a whole lot of hair spray, and still
my hair will frizz.
I have used relaxers in the past that also promised to straighten
hair, smooth the hair, and all of that good stuff. The results however
would be my hair looking the same, and smelling like farts; not only
that, my hair would feel very unhealthy for a few weeks after using
harsh relaxers.
Now, I have always liked Garnier, but for the most part, their products are either hit or miss, and when it came to Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector, I assumed it would be a miss. The package looked too gimmick like, and the claims on the package were just not all that believable. Not only that, after finding this particular kit in Target was priced at under $9.00. I figured with a price that low, that the product would not do a thing for me.
I was given a free kit of Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector, and there was no way I was not going to try it.
Application:
The directions call for you to shampoo your hair, but do not condition it. Once you have shampooed your hair, towel dry it for a bit, and then apply the 20 Minute Smooth It Serum.
The smell is not too wonderful, but it is definitely not as horrible as relaxers I have purchased in kits before in the past.
After waiting for 20 minutes, I then rinsed with warm water as directed. Following rinsing I then applied the Heat Activated Perfect-It Cream. This cream pretty much masked up the stink from the serum, so I was happy about that.
Once that is applied, you can then style your hair as you normally would, with a blow dryer, or straightener.
My Results:
I wanted to really put this one to the test, so I allowed my hair to air dry, as I normally would after my hair is wet. To my shock, as my hair dried I noticed that frizz and puff was not forming as it normally would. Whenever I let my hair air dry, it ends up looking like I got electrocuted. With Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector this normal puffing and frizz never sprung up. In fact my hair was drying, and looking more relaxed, straighter, and frizz free than it ever had before in my life.
Normally if I wanted to straighten my hair, it would take me up to 2 hours. My hair is that thick, so straightening has always been a real pain for me, and I only do it whenever I truly have the time, or truly need to straighten it.
After using Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector though, straightening time was cut more than in half. It took me only 30 minutes or so to fully straighten my hair. I liked how it left my curly hair though, it gave it a more natural and soft looking mermaid wave, that I really liked, so now, I just let it air dry, and wallah, it looks fantastic. No longer do I have to pay much attention to my hair, and that is what makes this product so wonderful, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is sick of their frizz, the puffy hair, and bad hair days in general.
