I bought the Infiniti by Conair, Instant Heat Ceramic 1" Hair Straightener the same day I bought the Infiniti Hair Designer by Conair, Hot Air Styler.
I did not trust that the Hot Air Styler would work well at all, and
seeing that my straightener recently broke, I knew I needed a new one. I
figured I'd be returning the Hot Air Dryer, and would keep the 1"
straightener.
Funny how it turned out. I'm not parting with the Hot Air Styler. I'm
actually anticipating heading back to Target to return the horrid Infiniti by Conair, Instant Heat Ceramic 1" Hair Straightener.
Initially I bought it thinking that it would work like a charm. It
looked similar to my old flat iron, had the infrared energy that most
irons have, and it came with it's own storing pouch.
It featured a high heat setting maximum of 395 degrees, which I knew
would work well. My old one reached 400 degrees, but I figured I would
not be losing out much with just a 5 degree difference. Man I was dead
wrong!
When I found the Infiniti by Conair, Instant Heat Ceramic 1" Hair
Straightener on the rack I noticed that it was a lot heavier feeling
through the package than most of the other irons. Seeing that it was
only priced at $49.99 though I'd deal with the extra baggage.
At home I used the Hot Air Styler, and wanted to flatten out the added volume using a few sweeps of my new straightener.
The package promised that the iron would heat up in 30 seconds, which
is true. It did heat up in 30 seconds. However when straightening I
noticed it was not reducing the puff, the frizz, nor was it flattening
out bumps I missed while using the dryer.
Worst of all though was how it ripped at my hair. I know new
straighteners have this tendency to yank out hair after the first few
tries...but I went at my hair with the iron for close to 20 minutes to
see if I could break it in or whatever. It never happened though, with
each stroke it continued to snag and pull at my hair.
The iron also did not at all feel like it was reaching the promised
395 degrees. It felt only mildly hot, but it definitely was not hot
enough to tame my hair flat which was a major disappointment.
Another flaw was in the design itself. I have no idea why they decided
to add grooves in the area where your fingers rest. This causes a
numbing irritation to the fingers and a pinching sensation which is just
a pain in the butt.
Overall:
I'm returning the Infiniti by Conair, Instant Heat Ceramic 1" Hair Straightener
as soon as I get home from work today. It was a waste of $40.00, and I
would not recommend it to anyone. I used to own a very expensive flat
iron, and I figured by now the cheaper versions would be just as good.
Unfortunately it's not the case. I'm going to return this one and get
myself a Chi, or possibly try out the new Bed Head Rockstar Iron.
