I'm still young, my skin is not a saggy bag of wrinkles, and frankly I
prefer to keep it that way. Ever since I was young, I was told by my
grandmother, who at the age of 60 barely had a recognizable wrinkle,
that her secret was to avoid sun bathing, and to moisturize daily, twice
a day, morning and night.
Seeing that my grandmother on my other side of the family was full of
wrinkles and the same age, I figured she failed to follow the simple
rule of thumb. Moisturize the skin, and avoid lots of exposure to the
sun.
Then there was not all too many brands of wrinkle creams, and products
made for mature skin. Today though they have shelves and shelves full
of miracle whips. Wrinkle cream for every known wrinkle prone area.
Eyes, lips, forehead, chin... you name it, they have it. You name it,
likely I've tried it.
My most recent find though came in the form of a cream cleanser.
Personally I love cream cleansers. In fact I love all cleansers, but
seeing that L'Oreal Age Perfect for Mature Skin, Rich Restorative Cream
Cleanser was new, and I love L'Oreal in general, I wanted to give this
newbie product a run for its money.
The L'Oreal Age Perfect for Mature Skin, Rich Restorative Cream
Cleanser came in a simple squeeze tube, with the name of the product and
brand name written in eye catching gold colors with some black text as
well.
I planned on using it the same way I use any cleanser. Once in the morning when I awake, and once at night before bed.
In the bathroom, I squeezed out a fair amount of the cream cleanser.
The consistency is very thick, and the cream cleanser itself is bright
white. I rubbed it in between my middle finger and thumb to get a feel
for the texture, and to see if there was any micro-beads hidden within
it. There were none, but the cleanser itself had a very nice silky
texture to it that I imagined I would like.
The scent was fresh, and similar to other L'Oreal cleansers I have
tried. L'Oreal Age Perfect for Mature Skin, Rich Restorative Cream
Cleanser however was pretty bland when it came to filling my senses with
its scent.
Anyhow, I splashed my face with some water, and got to work on
scrubbing the cream cleanser into my skin. It has a slippery feeling to
it when applied, and when I tried to rinse, I noticed this slippery
feeling was not going away.
I rinsed, splashed and rinsed some more, yet the slippery feeling
still remained. It was officially part of how the cleanser works I
imagine. It leaves behind a semi greasy residue, which you will either
hate or love. I kind of hated it, but was grateful that when I dried my
face with a towel the greasy like residue finally left my face.
As far as fully cleansing my face I cannot vouch for it because it
made my skin feel grimy after using it, and I didn't like it. I have
combination oily/dry skin and the added feeling of an oil slick on my
face was not one I appreciated.
I also noticed throughout the day that my skin had a higher
gloss/shine to it which sucked. I work pretty hard at trying to maintain
a shine free face, and L'Oreal Age Perfect for Mature Skin, Rich
Restorative Cream Cleanser messed up the routine by adding the one thing
I hate about my skin, to my skin. Shine! Ugh!
Overall:
I didn't like it. I ended up giving the bottle to my mom who seems to
like it. She however does not have oily skin like I do, so I'm sure she
enjoys the over slick feeling?
If you have oily skin by nature, avoid this one. If you have dry skin
you may like it, but the greasy feeling is not one you may enjoy.
