I've always really liked the beauty products made by Montagne Jeunesse.
The unfortunate thing about the brand though is that I am only ever able
to find their products sold at Walmart. I rarely ever go to Walmart,
but when I do, I am always sure to check out Montagne Jeunesse's mini
shelve section to pick up some of their products.
While browsing this weekend, I came across a few of my usual
favorites, along with a little something new from the company I had
never seen before. Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Masque!!!
The small package contains enough formula to cover your entire face,
and being a fan of their products, I had to try it! It is made for those
with dry skin and T-Zone skin.
At first I was worried because I am aware that eating chocolate is bad
for the skin. I had no clue what wearing chocolate could do for the
skin. According to the package, it would unblock pores and draw out
impurities in the skin.
My Use:
Before yanking open the packet, I washed my face with warm water (this
opens pores), and tied my hair back into a tight pony tail. Masques can
be messy and easily get into the hair, so I recommend anyone
considering this, or any masque for that matter do the same.
Next I peeled away at the top of the package and squeezed some of the
chocolate masque out of the package. The chocolate scent hit me dead on.
It smelled fantastic like creamy milk chocolate. The masque itself had a
thick consistency that reminded me all too much of chocolate frosting.
I blobbed it onto my skin in a thick layer. There was enough in the
package to probably get 2 uses from it, but seeing that they are so low
priced I used the entire masque on my face.
While spreading the chocolate masque around my skin I couldn't help
but think that this was all wrong. It genuinely felt as if I was
smearing chocolate mousse, or frosting onto my skin. It felt weird, and
the thick chocolate scent didn't help break my mind of this oh so wrong
feeling.
I went with it though, and kept the masque on my face for a full 15
minutes. The masque was almost fully dry when I went to rinse it off.
Results:
Rinsing was really simple, a few splashes of water, and you are done.
After rinsing fully I was surprised at how messy the stuff was. My sink
was stained, the walls that I splashed were stained, as was the floor
and counter. I had to clean up the mess afterward which was annoying,
and sort of disgusting.
As far as results for my skin go though, I did notice a light
chocolate scent left behind. My skin was left slightly softer, but to be
honest I have facial cleansers that do a better job, and do not require
me to spread them on my face for 15 minutes to achieve such results,
nor are they this messy.
Overall:
I bought it to try it, and it gave me so-so results. It was too messy
in my opinion, and felt wrong the moment I began spreading it on to my
face. All in all it primarily felt like a novelty item. Something to try
once and say you did it, and never do it again. Kind of like mayonnaise in your hair. As beneficial as they say it is, it's just not worth the troubles.
