Back in December I was given a small tester bottle of Clarins HydraQuench Lotion.
There was enough lotion in the test tube to last me till February. I
used up the entire tube hoping to come back with a bunch of positive
things to say about the high priced moisturizing lotion.
However, after two months of consecutive use, I don't really have too much to report on it as far as results go.
The promise associated with Clarins HydraQuench Lotion
was typical to any moisturizing lotion. It's meant for normal to
combination skin, and using it will add ultra moisturization to skin.
Now most women, especially younger ones, are under the
impression that if they have oily skin they should avoid moisturizing
lotions. Instead they use alcohol based creams which do nothing but
create more oil and shine. The key to shine free, and oil free skin is
to moisturize, so you skin breaths. Drying out pores only makes the
pores tighten up, and leak even more oil looking to moisturize itself.
It your skins natural reaction to dryness.
So ladies, you got oily skin? Moisturize!
However is Clarins HydraQuench Lotion the type of lotion you will want to start with? I'd have to say no.
While Clarins HydraQuench Lotion smells fantastic, and absorbs
rather quickly. I did not feel much added moisture to my skin after just
a few short minutes. My usual dry patches still were dry to the touch
after applying the lotion, which basically tells me the lotion stinks.
The scent is light and airy, but made me nervous because at times added scent to lotions make my skin break out more. Luckily Clarins HydraQuench Lotion
did not cause any break outs, but I needed it for what it promised to
do, and that was to moisturize. In these dry winter months my skin takes
quite a beaten, and I find that I use moisturizing lotions more than
usual. I was hoping Clarins HydraQuench Lotion would offer me relief to my dry skin, but it didn't do much of anything.
A standard 1.7 ounce tube costs $48.00, which is absolutely ridiculous.
I continued to use the lotion nightly before bed, and sadly I did not
see a change in my skin over the duration of 2 months. My skin remained
the same, with its usual dry spots.
As far as recommending this one, I'm going to have to say no. For
$48.00 I expect a lotion to not only moisturize, but to also add
anti-aging benefits as well.
