Review of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, Fragrance for Men

When I was given free sample of Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier, I was excited because I had already tried Jean Paul's Classique X Collection and fell in love with it. I was excited to see what the male version of John Paul Gaultier would smell like, and being a fragrance lover, sexes do not stop me from buying strictly female scents. In fact I have quite a large selection of men colognes and fragrances.
When it comes to Le Male, the bottle is similar to the female version of Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances, only the male version features a bottle with a males upper torso, colored in a tear stripe manner. Like the female bottle though, it is ugly, generic looking, and is truly what kept me away from the Jean Paul Gaultier collection in general.

The Scent:

Le Male is a truly bizarre scent, because when I first sprayed it, and took in the initial first hit of scent I nearly wanted to gag, because it had such a high and potent stink of window cleaning formula. It was soapy, chemical like, and just was bad, overall a bad, bad stink. Good for the house as a household cleaner, bad to be flaunting and wearing out in public.

However as quickly as I was about to write Le Male off as a stink fest, it simmered down into a very delicious and powdery fragrance. I loved it. I never had a fragrance work magic quite the way this one had. An instant hate to love flip of opinion is what Le Male delivered.

The scent then began to confuse me, because it is made for a man, but right when that initial stinky bang faded away I was left with a soft girly musk. A girly musk that no man should be wearing. This one is truly a woman's best friend, it is ultra feminine, and deliciously powdery and soft.

It begins to fade into a cashmere mist type of spin off, which truly leads me to believe that Jean Paul should have bottled this one up for women, and not men. There is not a single note of anything manly in this soft baby's breath type mix. But dear God is it delicious.

Last:

Le Male sticks to you like glue, and you will truly enjoy the angelic musk like fragrance throughout the day.

Overall:

Made for a man, but I feel it will be most adored by a woman. Most men will find this one too be too soft and woman like to want to wear, but ladies, definitely do not pass this one up for some floral celebrity fragrance; the bottle may be ugly, it may say it is for a guy, but definitely stop to test it for yourself. You will see what I am talking about once you sample it, and I bet you will turn right back around and buy a bottle!
