Review of Lush: Bamboo Soap

I've seen more and more Bamboo scented products popping up here and there. Items ranging from body wash, lotion, perfume, and from Lush...soap!

Lush has always been one of my all time favorite bath and body products store. I simply love the scents of their products, and rarely do I come across something I hate. Although I have hit some bumps in the road when it comes to Lush though, they seem to always have something new, intriguing me to give it a try.

Bamboo soap from Lush has been one of those soaps I've seen on their website that never really captivated me due to it's bland green color, and glycerin base.

However I received Bamboo Soap just about 2 weeks ago for my anniversary. I was excited because I've been wanting to try Bamboo Soap, but didn't want to splurge on myself more than I already do. Lucky for me, Bamboo was a freebie thanks to my boyfriend.

The soap looks nearly identical to the Bamboo soap you will see on the Lush.com website. Its crudely cut from a larger block of soap, and packaged nicely in a cute newspaper like paper wrap with the Lush logo all over it.

Bamboo Soap is the same color you see on the site as well. A nice rich light colored lime green. At first glance it reminded me a lot of Soap Sod, (the soap that smells like grass!) with its same color, and same texture.

Scent:

The scent hit me the moment I began to unwrap Bamboo from it's paper protecting seal. It was not that impressive though. It reminded me of cinnamon and frankly I wasn't too keen.

The moment this gem hit the water though it really transformed.

In the water Bamboo Soap released the promised scent of cedar wood, which is one of my top favorite scents. Besides cedar wood though I also was clearly able to detect something warm, and cinnamon spicy which I loved! Normally I don't care for anything that smells like cinnamon, but Bamboo Soap had just the right amount of pinch added to it that made the soap not only smell fresh and outdoorsy, but it also made it warm and intoxicating at the same time.

It was as if Lush managed to capture the great outdoors, with a tiny hint of warm log cabin cinnamon spice. Combined the scent is simply addicting.

On Skin:

Bamboo Soap lathers quite well seeing that it is a glycerin based soap. Other creamy based soaps don't really lather up, but their glycerin based ones never have an issue. Bamboo lathers up really well leaving behind a nice bubbly layer of deliciousness on your skin.

Bamboo Soap definitely softens skin while using it. Out of the shower though my skin pretty much felt the same as usual. Only it was doused in the gorgeous scent Bamboo gave off, and the scent lasted for the rest of the night, which was a major, major plus. Long lasting scent is never really something one can capture in a soap, and Lush seems to have the patent down.

Overall:

Lush's Bamboo Soap is a must try. It is truly a long lasting scent that is perfect for cold winter months. It warms you up, yet gives you a sense of bathing in the outdoors, which I'd say feels more like a 20 minute relaxing session of aromatherapy, than just an old ordinary bath.

You can pick up a 3.5 ounce bar from Lush.com for $6.95, or you can pick it up at a local Lush if you are luck enough to have one nearby.

-I highly recommend cutting the bar up into smaller sample sized pieces and storing the rest in a cool dry place. You save the bar longer, and get way more use out of it than taking the whole thing in the bath with you. Lush soap has always been known to be fast melter's, and Bamboo; although not a super fast melter, does melt faster than normal soaps you may be used to.
