Review of LUSH: Banana Moon Retro Lush Soap

When a few old products from the past have recently revived themselves on the Lush.com Web site, my jaw nearly dropped. Seeing how I am semi new to Lush products, seeing these old Retro bars of soap and products available made me giddy like a school girl. I wanted to try them all, but seeing how Lush products are a bit pricey, I had to choose between the things I knew I wanted, and the things I just wanted because they were new to me.

Seeing how soap has always been my Lush favorite, I placed an order on Banana Moon.

Appearance:

Now on the website Banana Moon seriously does not look all too appealing. In fact it has this sickening brownish yellowish color going on that is sort of ugly in my opinion. I nearly left the soap behind because it was pretty blah looking.

The 3.5 ounce bar of soap also appears to have odd black seeds within it. I imagine for light exfoliating. To me though it still resembled a plain old bar of oatmeal soap.

After reading the soaps product description though, I leaned more towards liking it again.

Appearance In Person:

Banana Moon looked like the bar of soap presented to me on the Lush website. It was an icky antique burnt brown and yellow colored bar of soap. Within the soap I could tell that there were quite a few nice exfoliating grains of what I believe are banana seeds. The soap also is very creamy looking.

Scent:

According to the Lush.com website Banana Moon is made with fresh organic bananas, and yogurt.
There is even an ingredient within the soap that is good for older skin with wrinkles. (Although it does not say anything about improving wrinkles?).

Scent In Person:

MmMmmMmmmm.... Banana Moon smells like true real life banana's. It is sweet, delicious, and you can even detect a nice creamy dollop of vanilla yogurt within the mix. It is truly delicious. I honestly thought that this particular soap wouldn't be a favorite, but it quickly turned into one.

My Use:

I cut off a small sample piece of Banana Moon, and brought it into the shower with me. I knew Banana Moon would melt fast because it has a very creamy base to it. Saving the majority of the bar in the fridge is recommended.

Anyhow, in the shower Banana Moon does not provide much of a lather, but it does glide across your skin leaving behind a creamy textured track that is simply divine!

The small seeds within the soap also lightly exfoliate your skin. Best of all though the entire bathroom fills up with the glorious tropical scent of bananas, and it is gorgeous.

Unfortunately though as soon as I got out of the shower to dry off, the glorious Banana scent vanished from my body.

Although I was disappointed about that, I still enjoyed using the soap just for its yummy realistic banana scent it gave off. It really puts you in a good mood, and adds to the vibe of summer, which is so soon to pass.

Overall:

Although Banana Moon does not have a lasting scent, nor does it moisturize skin very much after drying off, it's scent is so warming to the soul that I can't not recommend you try it. It's delicious. Banana lovers will adores this one!

Price:

Pick up a 3.5 ounce bar at Lush.com or at any Lush store. A 3.5 ounce cut will come to $6.95. Totally worth it in my opinion!
