Review of Lush: Phoenix Bubble Bar Review

I have never been too keen on the cinnamon scent, but I was given a large box of Lush goodies for my anniversary recently and the Phoenix Bubble Bar was included in the mix.

Although I was never fond of cinnamon scented products, I actually was drawn to Phoenix because it smelled like a warm toned down creamy cinnamon that I actually really, really loved.

The bubble bar in particular reminded me of the top of a specialty coffee store latte, you know, when they add some whipped cream, and a few sprinkles of freshly ground cinnamon powder? It's a warm pick me up for cold winter months.

Phoenix Bubble Bar reminded me of a delicious morning brew, and I really liked it.

Phoenix is shaped like a half crescent moon, with an off white creamy center, with the outside doused in grounded cinnamon. The cinnamon does get on your fingers when you pick it up, but it's not an overly messy bubble bar.

According to Lush.com the Phoenix Bubble Bar was made using sandalwood, and cinnamon for a pick you up feeling. It is said to awaken sluggish brains with cinnamon and sandalwood.

For me though, it has a scent that puts you in a warm, cozy relaxing mood.

My Use:

I cut Phoenix in half, because I find that using the whole 3.5 ounces is wasteful. Half a bubble bar from Lush usually packs more than enough bubble power for my standard sized tub.

The moment I began running hot water, I crumbled up the bubble bar under the running water, while I went about getting a towel, I came back to find my tub filled with a beautiful frothy layer of bubbles.

I was able to detect subtle hints of cinnamon in the air, but the scent was very subtle. I figured though that as soon as I hopped in, the scent would be all around me, engulfing me in it's warm creamy cinnamon scented greatness.

Unfortunately though, that never happened.

The Phoenix Bubble Bar did have a very slight tinge of cinnamon scent, but you truly won't be able to smell it unless you are are slathering bubbles right under your nostrils.

Phoenix however did manage to leave my bathwater feeling extremely soft and silky, which is what I love about Lush bubble bars! They normally pack a powerful kick of scent, deliver tons of bubbles, and leave the water soft and silky feeling. Like bathing in liquid mercury.

As far as the bubbles go though, there were tons of them at first. Sadly all of my lovely little bubbles banished within 5 minutes, which was another major disappointment.

Overall:

The Phoenix Bubble Bar smelled fantastic up until I threw it into my bath. The scent died down, and the bubbles all fizzled out way too early on in my bath.

I wouldn't whole hardheartedly recommend the Phoenix simply because other Lush bubble bars work way better than this one did. In my opinion this one is worth skipping. It sells for $6.95 for 3.5 ounces, and the bubble bar does not do justice for that price!
