Review of LUSH: Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap

Lush has recently added a few oldies but goodies to their stores and Web sites. This old yet new collection of goods is being called Retro Lush (like dragging your '80s jeans out of the closet, Lush has done the same thing). They brought back old products to their new customers who have likely never even seen or heard of some of these available items. Me being semi new to the world of Lush, I jumped right in on board, and ordered a few things that I thought I would like. One particular product called Quinquereme Of Nineveh Retro Soap, tickled my fancy most because of its promised scent, which is coconut. A scent that I adore, in the summer, and in the winter- I love coconut. However I am picky about coconut scents. If they smell like suntan oil, or like fake coconuts my love for the scent can turn to hate. It has to be a real coconut scent and I hoped that Quinquereme Of Nineveh Retro Soap delivered a real coconut scent, and not a fake manufactured one.

Appearance:

The Lush.com website displays the bar of soap as a large chunk of cloudy white fluff. It resembles a rectangular shaped marshmallow, and it is in fact quite attractive.

Appearance In Person:

Arriving at my door Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap did resemble the soap that you can view on the Lush website. Nothing different.

Scent:

According to Lush Quinquereme Of Nineveh Retro Soap smells like fresh coconut. Made with fresh coconut milk, and sweet vanilla absolute.

It not only sounded good enough to eat, but it also looks good enough to eat.

Scent In Person:

Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap seriously smelled like one of those delicious frozen fruit bars. It smells true to a coconut, yet has a delicious creamy scent to it that any coconut lover is bound to fall for. It's truly delish!!!

Price:

A 3.5 ounce bar of Quinquereme Of Nineveh Retro Soap came to $6.95. You can purchase larger chunks cut directly off of the block for more money. However you will save a heap on shipping, so if you have a Lush nearby, go to the store, and skip placing online orders.

My Use:

I cut a small chunk of the soap to bring with me in the shower. Any Lush junkie knows that you shouldn't bring the whole bar in the shower with you, because Lush soaps tend to melt really fast, and Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap is no exception.

In the shower I wet my skin and began to rub the chunk of soap around my body. Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap is a very light exfoliator with small chunks of what I believe is coconut shavings in it.

It smells absolutely heavenly, and it goes on creamy leaving behind nice trails of white coconut milk on your skin.

The scent is intoxicating once warm water hits it. One issue I had though was that the soap broke up into small chunks while in the shower, which sort of sucked, because a lot of it ended up falling to the floor.

After Shower Results:

Now as glorious as Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap smelled and felt on my skin in the shower, it's sad to say that it didn't do anything for my skin after I got out and dried up. The scent also vanished pretty quickly as well, which was disappointing.

Overall:

Even though Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap does not have a lasting scent after using it, I will say that the scent in the shower makes it all worth wild. The fresh true to life coconut scent, and creamy coconut milk while using it is incomparable to anything I have ever tried.

I highly recommend Quinquereme of Nineveh Retro Soap to those who love a real life coconut scent.
