Review of Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Blush, in Soft Plum

I never change up my blush. I use MAC plum pressed powder and have been using this color for the past 3 years now. Plum is my color, and whenever I'm about to run out, I buy a new one. This past month though, I ran out, and had to place an order on my usual blush.

Till the order got to me though I needed a backup plan. While doing my routine shopping I came across Maybelline's Dream Matte, Mousse Blush in the color Soft Plum.

After inspecting it a bit, it appeared to match my MAC blush nearly to the tee. Although I'd never used a mousse or cream based blush before, I had used Maybelline's Dream Matte Foundation, and liked it. Unfortunately it did not last long enough for it to become a regular purchase of mine.

I figured though for the $5.00 it was priced at, it would be worth a shot. If I hated it, I reassured myself that my MAC would be in the mail and at my home shortly.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Blush, in Soft Plum
comes in a very small glass tub, with no applicator, or brush. You simply stick your finger in, and apply it to your cheeks. You will want to blend it in, as the mousse is rather thick and airy. Once blended though the feel is soft, with a flawless airbrushed finish.

Soft Plum is a really nice color, and one I'd recommend to medium light skin tones, all the way to medium dark tones. It blends smoothly, and looks lovely on the skin. I thought I would hate the velvet feel on my cheeks, but the texture is actually soothing, and calming to the skin.

So I loved the blush. I loved the color, but I wondered if the blush would last a long time, like my MAC blush is capable of doing, or would it just quickly fade away like the sister foundation does?

To Last? Or Not To Last? That Is the Question(s).

As much as I loved the color, the way it left my skin flawless looking, and velvety soft, the blush did not last. In fact simply brushing my hand against my cheek by accident causes the blush to move, fade, and clump. The result is ugly and messy after just a few hours of wearing it.

Its unfortunate too, because I would have switched my usual brand to this one, had the blush actually lasted for longer than 2 hours.

Maybelline is so close with this one, now they just need to figure out how to keep this stuff from fading.

Recommendation:

Skip it. Stick to pressed powdered blushes until someone figures out how to make a cream blush right.
