Review of Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze - Endless Lilac

I am back on a lip gloss and lipstick kick. I normally do not wear lip products too often because in the past I had just been burned too many times by expensive lipsticks and glosses, and got sick of having to bring the stuff back to the store for a refund.

Lately though, I have been coming across some really great lip products, so I am once again back in an obsessive compulsive collecting mode when it comes to new colors, or products.

Revlon rarely disappoints me with their facial products, so when I came across a tube of Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze, naturally I was intrigued.

With no knowledge of what Endless Lilac would look like on my lips, I decided to get it anyway, because it was a lovely light pink color, with obvious fine flecks of sparkle added to the color. The sparkle shimmer however is so fine that you will only spot it if you hold the tube up to your eyeball and really give it a good hard look. It's very pretty, like a pearly shimmering effect that I knew would highlight my lips and add a glossed shine to them.

I don't care about the shine though, I just wanted the color to be as pretty on my lips, as it was in the tube. The price was a little high for the lipglaze, but I figured that would mean it would work well.

Plus, I guess I was paying the price for the promise of the color 'staying'. It promised that the color would stay with me for 8 hours. I highly doubted that, but I didn't care, I liked the color, and I buy what I like.

My Use:

I always try on lip glosses in 2 ways. First I try it on my lips alone, with no other products. The second way I use it is over my regular lip color, which is Revlon's Carnation Lipstick (which by the way is gorgeous).

On my lips by itself, Endless Lilac Lipglaze did not do much justice as far as color goes. In fact, my lips looked rather nude in color, just more shiny and glossy in appearance. It was not necessarily what I was hoping for. I tired another layer of the gloss hoping the color would show more, but it didn't.

I was not about to pout about it yet though, so I wiped it off, and applied my lipstick, followed by a coating of the lipglaze. Then was when the color came to life. It needed a base, no problem, most glosses do.

On top of my deeper pink colored lipstick, Endless Lilac stole the show, by creating a much nicer, and softer finish.

The consistency of the lipglaze however is a little heavy, and you can feel it on your lips the entire time you are wearing it. This was not really a pleasant feeling, but one I knew I'd get used to. I was just hoping the texture would smooth out more over time, but it really doesn't. It is not necessarily a greasy feeling, but more of a caked one. Thankfully it's not drying to the lips though, like other long lasting lip colors are.

The 8 Hour Promise:

I was pretty impressed with how long this lipglaze by Revlon stood with me as far as color was concerned. I did not get a full 8 hours of fill bloom color, but as the 8 hour mark approached, even after sipping from a can throughout the day, I was still visibly able to see a color tint left behind on my lips.

If I had not been sipping from a soda can all day, likely the color would have remained deeper, and richer for longer. So yes, the 8 hour promise pretty much rings true, and that's just fantastic for those of you who hate re-applying every hour.

Overall:

When worn alone, Revlon's ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze is not really that miraculous, however on top of your regular colored lipstick, and this gloss comes to life, and it sticks around for a really long time. Although I am not too fond of the texture of the gloss, I would buy it again based off of the last alone, and the nice color it leaves behind on top of my lipstick color.
