Review of Usher by Usher, Perfume for Women

Way back in the day I liked Usher's music. Maybe I've failed to keep up with the trend, but nothing really new as far as Usher goes has stood out to me over the last decade or so.

More recently though I've noticed a ton of new advertising for her fragrances, for both men and women. I remembered the fragrance coming out a long while ago, but never payed much attention to it because I thought he only focused on scents for men.

Little to my knowledge there is actually a women's version of Usher, by Usher. The bottles appearance though tricked me into thinking it was a mans scent.

The bottle is a frosted glass with a silver U embellished to it. The U reminded me of a horseshoe, and the thick silver bottle's cap screamed 'man cologne'. The bottle itself is nice, and probably one I would want to add to my collection of perfume bottles. I just don't dig that the perfume color is yellow. It makes the bottle look ugly. Once the perfume is gone though, it's a bottle worthy of saving.

After picking it up and testing out in the store, I was greeted with a more feminine scent, and to my surprise, the bottle of perfume actually was for women. I really think Usher should work on fixing up that bottle, and possibly making it look like it is actually for women, because at the store I found it at, they actually had it seated next to other colognes for men.

After sampling the perfume, I liked it, it was strong and warm, but not a scent I would actually purchase. It had a musk scent to it, with a sharp and strong woodsy scent, which I imagine was the cashmere wood, and amber wood.

It smelled a little manly, and one that I would have sold as unisex, for both men and women.

As the scent began to dry, the strong woody notes remained, with a warm vanilla bean undertone that was nice, but at the same time, did not blend very well with me. I was complimented a few times while wearing it, but I really did not like it all too much. It smelled cheap, and considering that the bottle sells for nearly $70.00, the scent is far too generic for my likings, especially at that high price.

Overall:

Usher for women is a hit or miss, it just depends on what you like. If you're into masculine scents that are designed for women, then this one may be your ticket to smelling fantastic, however if you're a floral/fruity type of person, then you probably won't get much out of this one.
