I don't usually browse all too often for new foundation. When I come
across something though that begs for my attention I cannot deny it. I
encountered a new stand in the CoverGirl section of my local Target,
featuring two names slapped together that I was not expecting to see
slapped together, ever. CoverGirl and Olay have tag teamed to create this new foundation that looked simply to die for. Called CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation, looks more like a frozen Latte, with tanned colored cream foundation featuring white swirls of what obviously is Olay.
It kind of reminded me of those cheap cream peppermint patty glosses
I'd buy up as a teenager. You know, where the gloss itself featured a
red tint, and the white swirls were added for moisturizing protection.
Yeah, those old school glosses never worked well, so when I came across
CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation I hoped they did work
well.
According to CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation, the Olay
Regenerist Serum and SPF 22 stays suspended over fine lines and
wrinkles, where other foundations sink into them which could make
wrinkles look even more obvious.
The best thing about the foundation though is that it promises to improve the look of your skin in just 4 weeks.
The moment I spotted the foundation though I knew I was not leaving
the store without it. What sucked about the foundation the most though
was that it was new, and is not packaged well enough to keep people from
opening them up and using them as samples.
It really aggravated me that nearly every foundation I came across had
someones finger print in it, or a bruise to the foundation due to
someone trying out the color. It was quite disgusting, and really stupid
of them to market something in such a piss poor package.
In the back I was able to find JUST ONE hidden foundation in my color
that was not ruined with prints. I went with #235, which sadly does not
state what the color is. I found out only by going online that the color
#235 is actually medium light. Perhaps if they'd of labeled them a
little better people wouldn't have to go shoving their fingers into them
to test them.
Once home, I finally got to using CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation.
I was not all too fond of the packaging of the foundation, as it was actually more annoying than it was convenient.
In order to get to the foundation, you must twist off the plastic cap. Inside of a slim glass jar sits the foundation.
You must go back to the cap now, and yank up a small chamber where the
application disc sponge sits. The disc is rather small. I would have
preferred a larger application disc. The small one included is annoying
because I found I had to keep dipping it into the foundation over and
over again in order to get full application of the foundation on my
face.
The cap itself is also made of extremely cheap purple plastic. I
actually dropped one by accident in the store and the cap shattered.
The one plus side about the packaging though is that it has a tight
seal and the cap clicks down and stays down. You won't have to worry
about it popping open in your bag and ruining it.
Anyhow, before getting into how well (or not so well) CoverGirl &
Olay Simply Ageless Foundation worked, I first wanted to discuss how it
feels going on.
I glided the application sponge over my face, with the foundation on
it. As I did this, it felt like I was rubbing cooling moisturizer onto
my face, with a nice silky fresh feeling to it. I simply love, love,
loved how it felt gliding on my face.
I also loved how well it covered up my blemishes and uneven tone.
Overall it applies like a charm, and goes on feeling like gold. I hoped the cover though lasted long, and kept well.
Results:
My skin looked relatively flawless for about 2 hours, but slowly I
noticed my forehead beginning to shine, which is always the deal killer
for me.
My face always seems to grow shiny and oily when it cannot breath.
Although CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation does not feel
thick on my face at all, it apparently is doing something to my pores to
make them oil up.
Although I have been using this stuff for a few days now, the shine
aspect has yet to subside. I have to blot my face 3 to 4 times a day
just to rid myself of it. Using a top coat of shine control powder does
not seem to help all that much either.
The plus side is that I have yet to break out. I figured with the
addition of shine to my forehead, I'd eventually break out like crazy.
I've yet to break out, so that's a major plus.
Recommendation:
I normally have oily skin, so I was not all too surprised to find that
this foundation added to my shine. Although it's likely not the best
foundation in the world for my skin type, it would likely work wonders
for those who suffer from drier skin. CoverGirl & Olay Simply
Ageless Foundation adds a nice moisturizing silky feel to your skin that
lasts all day, and it's quite lovely.
If you have oily skin/shiny skin you may want to avoid this one. It will add to the shine.
