Beauty Review: Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain

I love applying blush to my cheeks after applying my foundation and powder. Even the smallest dab of color to the cheeks pulls the entire polished look together, and honestly there is no point to putting makeup on if you are not going to add a little dab of blush.

Personally I have tried many, many different blushes, from powders, to liquid ooze. However recently I was offered a new way to apply blush, and honestly it was far different from anything I have ever used.
The product given to me is called Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain, and is comes in an odd cylinder shaped plastic container.

Inside of the container sits a hunk of what appears to be a greasy maroon colored stick of thick gel. On first impression I will admit that I was a bit grossed out. It looked like something that would immediately cause clogged pores and break outs all over my cheeks. After reading that Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain was dermatologist tested and that it was oil free it didn't sound as bad. Still though, it looked bad.

Besides being oil free though, Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain manages to go the extra mile by advertising that it also provides anti aging benefits within the formula. As well as adding a flushed color of blush to your cheeks, it also will over time improve skin. With each application Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain will soften, soothe and restore moisturization to the skin!

Well hello! Sounds skinlicious!

At the bottom of the container is a small push up pump that reminded me of an over sized child candy called Push Pops. Basically Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain works in the same way. You place your thumb or finger under the container and push up until the cheek stain has risen enough for you to apply it with ease.

I slid the stain across my cheeks and immediately hated how it felt. It was as if I just wiped Vick's across my cheeks. It was greasy, felt oily, and pretty much disgusted me.

Besides feeling disgusting though, it also looked disgusting. The tickled pink color I liked, I won't deny that, but it was the shiny, greasy slick look that covered the pink stain that disgusted me.

I wasn't going to wipe it off just yet though, I figured I would wait a few moments and that the stain would hopefully dry, and the texture and oily slick look would absorb.

It took about 5 minutes, and finally the greasy shiny look vanished, leaving only a light and very, very natural colored flushed pink blush behind. I truly did not think it would look this good, but low and behold, the results were phenomenal, and sort of unexpected, so I was very happy. I thought the shiny look was going to stay, and I am glad I gave the formula some time to absorb into my skin, because the result after it dries is gorgeous.

The best thing about Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain though is the fact that it is natural looking. It is not too pink, or too light or dark. It's just straight up o'naturale!

Overall:

Loves it! Although I don't like the beginning feeling and look, once it absorbs and dries into my skin the result is beyond any other blush I have ever tried. MAC used to be my blush of choice, but since discovering Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain, I don't think I'll be going back to MAC.

Recommended:

Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain would look best on light to medium skin tones. Darker tones may not show results seeing that the color is pretty light once applied. You can however buy Tarte Cheek Stain in other colors.

Pricing:

Tarte Tickled Cheek Stain sells for around $28.00. You can find it online by clicking here. The color though on the color chart is WAY off compared to the color you actually get in the tube.
