Blonds Who Dye Their Hair Black: What Not to Do

This past week, I have seen the worst dye jobs that I have ever come across in my life. Now don't get me wrong, I know a lot of women like dyeing their hair a darker color in the fall and winter months. I know I do, but I just have to say, 'if you're not going to maintain the color, then don't color it to begin with!'

The most unattractive look is a blond who has dyed her hair dark and does not follow up with routine touch ups on recent regrowth.

This week alone I think I have spotted around 20 or 30 different random women, attractive women, but with one major, major NO NO right on that scalp of theirs. Blond roots!

From a distance it actually looks like their scalps are bald, and they have floating black patches of feathers glued to random spots on their scalp. To better put it, it looks hideous, unnatural, and not to mention stupid. Yes, I said stupid!

Simply put... if you dye your hair dark, follow up with a touch up to the roots at least twice a month. Maintain the color, don't let it turn into the mess I discussed above. If you know you can't maintain the color, then head down to your nearest salon to get your hair dyed back to its original color. Don't let the roots grow out, it seriously looks trashy.

Next we have the rarer blonds who will dye their hair a dark color, yet they have blond eyelashes and eyebrows.

So haaay, check yourself before you wreck yourself.

If you are sporting light eyelashes you can perhaps pass this rule of DON'T, by making sure you never leave the house without dark mascara. If you have blond lashes and forget the mascara with your new dark dye job, you're going to look like a freak.

If you have light eyebrows though, forget about it! Don't even consider dyeing them to match your hair! There is nothing more unnatural than dark hair and blond eyebrows. If you try and dye those eyebrows you will end up looking even more freaky. Leave the brows alone girl! Leave the blond alone girl!
Then we have the most ugly trend I have ever seen come from blond hair.

Black streaks!

Ugh can anybody say Cruella!?!?!

Girl, just because you see one blond do it, doesn't mean it looks good and you should do it too! Not only is this trend horribly unnatural, but it screams 'look at me, I want attention- even if that means destroying my hair!' or 'look at me, I'm trying to be trendy!'

The same goes for blonds who add pink or blazing fruit punch red streaks into their hair. It looks stupid, and is a look only those in the 'stripping' business should be working with. Even then it looks pretty damn ridiculous. You are not Strawberry Shortcake, remember that before you consider it. (or maybe you are Strawberry Shortcake...in that case, go right ahead Strawberry).

If you are a full blown blond though, and you want to go darker, just go a few shades darker for a more natural look. Going to the extremes will not only look unnatural to others, but it will look unnatural to you as well, and likely you'll end up hating your hair.

If you want to add highlights or darker streaks, again, only go 3 or 4 shades away from your own hair color. Going black will just look stupid.

My best advice though would be to make sure you are confident in knowing you will absolutely love the darker color. If you dye your hair too quickly after dyeing it, it can actually ruin your hair. Trust me!
