How to Add Body and Volume to Fine Hair

Adding volume and body to thin, finer hair types is not that hard. A blow dryer can do wonders for adding body to thinner fine hair, but keeping that hair volumized is the tough part.

One spectacular little do it yourself trick that I discovered 'by accident' was to add a do it yourself leave in mixture to your hair while blow drying.

First you are going to need an empty spray bottle. Next you will need a bottle of Flex Extra Body Conditioner.

Fill the empty bottle with water about 80% full, next you can even add a small drop of shining gloss for some added shine. I would recommend using Mizani Spradiance High Gloss Serum, which will allow you to add small drops into the water without making a mess, due to the think squeeze applicator.

Next take your bottle of Flex Extra Body Conditioner and add about 2 to 3 capfuls worth of the conditioner into the bottle. Shake it well.

In dry hair spray the mixture into your hair and blow dry. You can add more of the spray to your hair for more added volume. When you are blow drying though, start from the bottom and work your way up to the roots. This will add some extra added volume to your hair. The conditioner will also leave it smelling really good.

Although you can use a lot of the spray, I recommend not going overboard, otherwise you could be left with weighed down hair.

If you have the time, I would recommend showering first with Flex Extra Body Shampoo, and Flex Extra Body Conditioner.

Blow dry your hair as discussed above, and gradually add some of the spray you made to your hair as it is drying. This will really perk up the volume, and it will last a really long time.

Another simple solution to adding lasting volume to thinner hair would be to use simple hair rollers in your hair every night before bed. Roll strands of hair into the rollers in semi-damp hair for the best results.

I recommend showering with Flex though, towel drying and then adding the rollers. You can also spray some of the spray that you have made to your hair while they are set in the rollers.

The next day simply remove the rollers, and lightly brush your hair for some really pumped up body and volume. To keep the look you can also add a very, very small mist of extra body hair spray. I'd recommend Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Finishing Spray, which will hold your style while adding a little volume itself.

For emergency situations where you want to add extra body, and you do not have the time to do any of the above; you can create the illusion of extra body by using barrette's to pull your hair up high at the sides and back. This will also create the illusion of layers at the back of your head, sort of how Lauren Conrad does it. Click to view.

Tying your hair in certain ways creates an illusion of volume, and will work for when you just don't have to time to add actual volume. Barrettes will usually do the trick.
