How to Volumize Hair in Humid Weather

Volumizing your hair in high humidity weather is actually easier than when there is no humidity in the air. Those with thick hair, or curly hair will notice a huge increase in volume; but the result is usually unflattering puffiness.

The plus side of this is that you can use products in order to maintain the volume without your hair looking puffy, and without the unsightly kinks.

A smoothing balm will usually take care of any puff, or kink, but most smoothing balms are short lived, and you will need to reapply it consistently.

GHD Smoothing Balm for Hair Straightening is a smoothing balm that is primarily used for when straightening hair, however you can also use it alone on high humid days when your hair is too puffy to calm the frizz.

Styling volume into your hair on high humidity days is also a little bit easier to do. If you take a shower and blow dry your hair wildly it will create a lot of volume, the only downside is that the humidity will also create a lot of frizz.

Like I said you could use a smoothing balm, or you could straighten your hair flat instead. While straightening make sure you are using the GHD Smoothing Balm.

Volume will be added naturally due to the humidity in the air, so little to no effort will be required in order to add some extra height to your hair.

If you know it is going to be humid out a day in advance, you could also put your hair up in curlers for added volume the next day. You simply sleep with the curlers in towel dried hair, and the next day remove them. Your hair will be volumized due to the curlers, and it will retain the volume due to the high levels of humidity.

You could also add some smoothing balm to your hair on days like this as well, or you could hold the style as is by adding a very light misting of hair spray. You will want to add one or the other though in order to avoid frizzy hair.

A quick solution to volumizing flat hair on a humid day would be to tie your hair up as high as you possibly can for a few hours. Use a scrunchy if possible.

After your hair has been up for a long period of time, remove the scrunchy. Your hair will have added volume due to the crease created by the scrunchy. The volume added should be long lived if the air is very humid.

On humid days you have to be very careful when attempting to add volume, because humidity for the most part causes frizz, and frizz and volume are two total different things. While volume looks good on thinner hair, frizz does now.

On high humid days it is actually best to leave your hair up, as to avoid saturating your hair in too much humidity. Smoothing balm can only go so far, so if you want to add volume on humid days don't go about it casually, because your hair will likely need many smoothing balm rub downs due to the amount of frizz.
