After using CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Ebony, I
fell in love with the Ombre Essentielle single color shadows. After
being given a huge bag of freebies, from my uncle, I was thrilled to dig
in and find that Ebony was not the only eyeshadow in the bag. Deep
down, hidden in the depths of the other gobs of designer products I dug
up a itty compact with the official Chanel logo on it. I flipped it over
to discover that inside a resident by the name of Ivory hid.
Packaging:
CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ivory comes in a small
black plastic eye shadow compact. Inside you have a rectangular palette
filled with the Ivory eye shadow, a small mirror, and 2 small sponge
tip brushes for application.
The Ivory eye shadow also has the Chanel logo etched into the actual
eye shadow, which is a cute little surprise when you open it up.
The Color:
CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ivory is just as one
would imagine. The color is white. Not any old bland colored white
though. This white is shimmery with a very, very subtle tone of silver
undertone, with mega micro fine flecks of gold shimmer. You could easily
miss the gold shimmer if you didn't look closer.
From past experiences with Ebony, I already knew that Ivory would
blend, and be just as soft and velvety when it came to texture, so I was
pretty excited to use it.
Seeing how CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ivory is a
lighter color, I figured I would use it on the upper part of my eye
lids, right below my eyebrows for highlighting. I usually use dark
colors on the lid, and blend the darker colors into the lighter colors
for a faded out blend of colors.
My Use:
First I applied my usual eye shadow color (any will do), and then I
applied a very thin coat of Ivory to the small brush the compact came
with. I did a quick swoop right below my eye brows for highlighting.
The eye shadow applies easy, and it was extremely easy to blend the
color in with the other colors I had previously added to my eyes.
All in all the look was neat, finished, and highlighted to perfection.
The thing I liked about CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow:
Ivory most though was the fact that it has such a light and fluffy
texture to it. After applying, it does not even feel like it is there.
It offers a very light wispy wear, which is a plus.
Ivory in particular added a very light dusting of silvery shimmer (the gold flecks were not at all detectable on my skin- just in the compact). I liked the results, but I will be honest here; I can get the exact same results with a 99 cent silver shimmer.
Last:
CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ivory stood in place
for the entire day till I wiped it off. It holds it's own, and is a
really nice color if blended properly. (It must be blended in with other colors, otherwise it looks too bland all alone)
Overall:
CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ivory is a nice color.
The shadow blends easily, lasts a long time, and highlights the area
with ease. Due to it's ridiculous price tag of $28.50 though, I can't
recommend it fully, because you can get the same results with a much cheaper product.
Overall I'd rate CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ivory
3 stars out of 5. Minus a star for it's price, and minus a star for the
fact that you can get the same results with dollar store products.
