Review: CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eye Shadow, Ebony

Recently I was given quite a few Chanel designer brand beauty products for free. I must say that Chanel's Eye Shadows have failed to impress me for the most part. Although I am far from trying them all, the ones I have tried just lacked the vibrant pop of color that cheap brands have delivered to me in the past. In the pile of different shadows though lies one small compact with a color that never fails me.

Black. CHANEL Ombre Essentielle, Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ebony comes in the basic Chanel compact. Black, plastic, the official Chanel logo and 2 small application sponge head brushes.

The Color:

Ebony is a deep, deep, dark black. The moment I popped the lid on the compact I knew immediately I was going to love it. Not only is black a color that is perfect for shading corners of the eyelid, but it is also a universal color. You can't go wrong.

I also really loved how the actual eye shadow had the official Chanel logo in the actual shadow.

Besides that though CHANEL Ombre Essentielle, Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ebony is also very, very silky and smooth to the touch, and offers extremely light wear, you truly don't even feel it on your eyes after applying.

My Use:

I applied first an eye shadow that I have always liked. After applying my basic color, I then too a small swipe of CHANEL Ombre Essentielle, Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ebony and added the color to the corners of my eye lids.

Ebony went on smooth, and was probably the best eye shadow I have ever used when it comes to blending.

The color goes on a dark black, but blends in to a more smoky subtle color, which gave me a gorgeous professional finish.

Last:

In order to get the longest last from eye shadows, you want to of course add a base. Liquid foundation works fine, and is cheaper than buying an actual eye shadow base.

I applied my base, and must say that CHANEL Ombre Essentielle, Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ebony stays in place for the majority of the day. You don't have to worry about it smudging, creating the nasty crease of doom, nor do you have to worry about re-applying due to fading. CHANEL Ombre Essentielle, Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ebony stays put even without using a base.

Overall:

Chanel you have colored me impressed. Although I was not thrilled with other colors Chanel Eye Shadows I have used, Ebony managed to win me over, even after being disappointed with other products they offer.

Recommended:

Highly. CHANEL Ombre Essentielle, Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ebony is a universal color that will impress those who use black shadow for shading.

Pricing:

CHANEL Ombre Essentielle, Soft Touch Eye Shadow: Ebony comes to $28.50, which is very high when it comes to eye shadow. It by far though is the best black shadow I have ever used, so I find the price to be; at best...slightly reasonable.
