I love eye shadow, I cannot get enough eye shadow... okay so maybe I
can. Perhaps I even have too many of them, but hey, when someone hands
you a bag filled with freebie makeup products... far be it for me to
turn it down. Inside this bag of goodies I came across a itty little
gold package with the name Kimora Lee Simmons on it! I love her
fragrances, but have yet to try any of her beauty products. I opened the
small package to find an even smaller gold compact filled with eye
shadow. Kimora Lee Simmons Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow was the name written on the back of the compact.
All in all I wasn't very impressed with the first initial look. The
Freshwater Pearls color is straight up white, with some shimmer to it.
Not much shimmer, but enough for me to label it a shimmer eye shadow.
Inside nothing else was offered besides the eye shadow. No brush, no
mini mirror- just eyeshadow in a palette with the KLS logo etched into
the actual eye shadow.
Although Kimora Lee Simmons Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow
is small, and doesn't offer anything else but eye shadow, I will admit
that the gold plastic compact was cute, and small enough to tote with
you in your purse.
My Use:
I truly couldn't use this particular color as a full eye shadow. It's
far too light. I knew that its only good use would be as an upper lid
highlighter. I have tons of these though, so keeping Kimora Lee Simmons
Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow in my makeup case is actually just a
waste of space. I figured though if it worked better than the ones I
already owned, I would get rid of them, and give room to Kimora Lee
Simmons Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow.
Before applying Kimora Lee Simmons Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow
to my lids, I first added some eye shadow for darker coloring. I used a
dark pink, followed by black to the corners for shading. The last step
would be to apply Kimora Lee Simmons Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow
for highlighting directly under my eyebrows.
I got out an eye shadow brush, and swiped it gently across the palette
of KLS Freshwater Pearls. My brush collected the color with ease, and
immediately I could tell that the texture had a very light and fluffy
feel to it. I knew it would likely swoop over my lids, and blend with
ease into the other colors I had already applied.
I ran the brush across my lid, and checked out the initial color before blending. White. Near matte white, but with a subtle shimmer. Much more subtle than the eye shadow in the compact appeared to be as a whole.
I began blending the color in, with mediocre results. I'm not saying
it was horrible, but it was also not something I would use on a daily
basis...if at all after using it this round.
Last:
Kimora Lee Simmons Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow stood put for
the most part, but I have other shadows that will stay put all day long,
and into the night; therefore Kimora Lee Simmons Beauty Freshwater
Pearls Eye Shadow failed to impress me.
Overall:
Kimora Lee Simmons Beauty Freshwater Pearls Eye Shadow is an in
between product. Its not terrible, nor is it wonderful. It's just okay.
Recommended:
This particular color, no. Other KLS Eye Shadows...maybe. I've yet to try any though.
As of now KLS website
is having a sale on their eye shadows, so I recommend you check them
out.
Although Freshwater Pearls failed to impress me, I like the texture
of their shadows enough to want to try other colors. You can pick a
color up now for only $10.00, which is very reasonable compared to other
designer eye shadows.
