Review: Lush Temptation Soap

I love the smell of apples, so the moment I was given Lush Temptation Soap I was pretty excited, especially seeing that Temptations has been a soap on the Lush.com Website that I have had in my wish list for close to a month now.

According to Lush's description of Temptation, it is a soap that is to tempt you with the scent of freshly bitten apples. The soap itself is inspired by the story of Adam and Eve as well, which makes it even more tempting.

Lush also adds in that the Bible does not state whether or not the forbidden fruit was an apple or not, it simply says a 'fruit'...so when it comes to their Temptation bar of soap, there is also a little hint of orange in there as well, just to be sure.

Temptation itself on the site looks like an ordinary glycerin based bar of green soap. Nothing special, nor remarkable. Lush however tends to turn even the plainest looking bar of soap into a scent heaven for bathers, and Temptations... well let's just say...she's tempting.

Scent:

When I finally had Temptations in hand, I was imagining that the moment I ripped open it's sealed Lush logo paper wrap I'd be greeted with an overwhelming smell of delicious juicy apples.

This wasn't the case though. I did smell apples, but as far as it being overwhelming or even strong was far from the truth.

However I couldn't knock it quite yet, because with my history with Lush, I know that sometimes the soap smells 10 times stronger as soon as warm water hits it. Hopefully Temptations would be even better in the shower or bath.

My Use:

I cut Temptations into slices, because Lush glycerin based soaps have a tendency to melt pretty quickly. I usually always cut bars up into sample sized slices in order to spare the soap for future uses.

In the shower, Temptations did in fact morph into a strong fruity scent. At first the delicious mouth watering scent of red delicious apples hit my nostrils, followed by a cinnamon spice of oranges.
Combined it was like showering with fresh cut apples and oranges.

The soap for me was odd because the apple scent reminds me of long hot summer months, while the spicy orange scent the soap gives off reminds me of cool fall nights. Its a rather interesting, odd combinations. It is though, delicious nonetheless.

Last:

When it comes to Lush soaps, I buy them not only for their gorgeous odd scents, but also because Lush is legendary for having the longest lasting scents. Sometimes though it is a hit or miss. Sometimes you end up with a bar of soap that leaves scent behind on your skin for 24 hours and counting, while others are lucky to stick around for towel drying time.

Temptations soap sits sort of in the middle. The scent does stick around, but it is vague and barely detected. The vague scent sticks around for around 2 hours till there are no traces of its scent left behind. Primarily though the scent left behind is the spicy orange scent. The apple scent really doesn't shine through after rinsing off.

Minor Issue:

Now there is one small issue with Temptation soap. Although I personally am not bothered by it, those with dry skin might be effected, because Temptation Soap did dry my skin out. It didn't cause my skin to flake, but had I dry skin likely it would have flaked up. So for those with dry skin, you may want to avoid Temptation because it does leave skin feeling thirsty.

Clean yes, but thirsty for sure.

Overall:

Temptations Soap is a favorite of mine now. I do love the scent, and like that the spicy orange scent sticks with me after the fact. However for those with dry skin, like I said, you may want to skip.
