Although I absolutely hated Maybelline's new Dream Liquid Foundation, I
came across their new Dream Matte Powder and I just had to try it.
It looked like something that would work perfectly for my skin during
the summer months. I tend to have shinier skin on hot summer days, so I
wanted a matte finish to remove any signs of shine. Maybelline Dream
Matte Powder looked like it'd be worth a try. Plus the powder came to
less than $7.00, so I felt like it was priced fairly.
I bought the compact in Medium Honey, which is semi dark, but not too
dark as to where it would make me look like I just airbrushed on a fake
tan by coating my skin in too much makeup. It matched very well, and I
suggest it for those with light skin, with a subtle tan. If you are too
pale, get the powder in a lighter color.
The compact in particular surprised me with it's odd design. In order
to get to the powder you simply click up the see through plastic lid.
However there is a hidden mirror and application disc hiding underneath
in a separate chamber. You get to it by sliding it out from underneath.
It sounds cool, but I actually really hate how it was put together. It
makes attempting to do fast fix ups more difficult, and makes it easier
to drop the entire thing on the floor.
Anyhow, applying the powder is a no brainer. You use the application disc, and apply the powder to your skin.
I really loved how well the Dream Matte Powder covered all signs of
shine, and left behind a light airy flawless look. It was natural, and
felt as if I was wearing nothing at all.
What I didn't like though was the awkwardly cheap application disc
that comes in the compact. It feels cheap, and is a little small, so
having to dab it into the powder over and over again was annoying.
Long Lasting?
The Dream Matte Powder is long lasting, which is a major plus. Most
matte powders tend to fade as the day goes on, but Dream Matte seems to
stay put, and left my skin relatively shine free for the entire day. I
dd have to do a few touch-ups to my forehead and nose, but those are my
most shiny spots and they tend to shine through earlier than the rest of
my skin.
All in all though, the powder leaves behind a light flawless finish
which looks natural, feels natural, covers shine, and lasts a long time.
It also did not cause any breakouts whatsoever.
Recommended?
It's a winner in my book. I do hope that they release it in a more
efficient compact though, and include a higher quality application disc.
