Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Fresh Berry (104) came
packaged in a sampler bag of lip glosses in the collection of Pure Color
Gloss, and Pure Color Crystal Gloss. When I first saw Fresh Berry I
figured that this one would be my favorite color in the mini bag of
glosses I bought.
Unfortunately Fresh Berry fell short for me, and it is confusing and
disheartening, especially after reading all of the raving reviews about
this color.
In the tube this one looks simply scrumptious, with a beautiful glossy high note pink flamingo like coloring tint to it. It has tiny flecks of micro-glitter in it, but not as abundant as Crystal Gloss has in the Pure Color collection. I hoped it would look as beautiful on my lips as it did in its tube.
That was just not the case here.
When Used Alone:
I always try out glosses in 2 manners, 1 in which I place on my lips alone with nothing else on the lips, and then on top of my lipstick to see what it does for it; if anything.
When I used Fresh Berry alone on my lips, it felt nice, sure, no tacky residue, or greasy texture going on. But as far as color goes, what a disappointment it was for me! All this one did was make my lips shiny, giving no new shading of color at all. I have dark black hair and I was hoping this color would pop and stand out against my darker locks, sadly all it did was make my lips shiny. No tinting of color.
I imagine if you have pinkish lips to begin with naturally, this one will not do a damn thing. On top of pale lips, then maybe you will get a light pinkish tint of coloring going on. Other than that though, not much.
On Top Of Lipstick:
I went ahead and cleaned my lips off to try Fresh Berry on top of some red, and then pink lipstick.
Again, all this one did was add shine to my lips, not even adding a new hue or tint of its pink coloring.
Overall:
I really hated this one. For me it was like using a clear lip gloss. It has last to it however if that is all you are after is clear gloss, but for the price Estee Lauder attaches to this one, I would just skip out on it entirely. There are other colors in the collection however that are worthy of picking up, Fresh Berry just is not of them. Sorry Estee, you can't win them all.
