I have known about Pure Color Crystal Gloss by Estee Lauder for quite
some time now, and got the chance to finally get my hands on one of
their crystal glosses a few months back. For me the color was mediocre,
and did not have much last going on, but I did still love the shimmer,
and this weekend when I came across a nice sampler pouch at Marshall's
for $19.99, I scooped it up and hoped that the array of colors in the
pack would be ones that I would like, and ones that would actually last.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Gloss in Plum (308), was one
particular color that caught my eye above and beyond all of the others.
This one was a deep purple color, with a lovely dark red added to the
mix. The overall color is that of plum, but with a more raspberry dark
chocolate maroon hue to it. Within the gloss, you can see itty bitty
micro-flecks of glitter, which of course give this gloss the crystal
name. The glitter is like a deep maroon color.
All in all, Plum looks beautiful in its tube, and was one I figured would look great worn alone, and on top of a lipstick.
Used Alone:
When used alone, Plum does not really stand out all too much. It gives
your lips a light pink tint, with a high beam glossy shine. The litter
flecks do not really show all that much either.
Used On Top Of Lipstick:
I decided to try this one on top of my red lipstick by Chanel to see
if it would add a more dazzling effect to the lipstick, as many of these
Pure Color Glosses by Estee Lauder seem to work best when used as a
lipstick topping.
Well sure enough, Plum came dancing to life the moment it was added to
the top of my bright red lipstick. It gave it a beautiful raspberry
crystal effect that I loved. On top of other colors, it gave off the
same impression, but in a different tint and hue.
On top of lipstick, Plum really comes to life, and I would highly
recommend it as a dazzling shimmering topper to your lip color.
Last:
The first Pure Color Gloss I used did not have much going on as far as
last goes, and the same rings true with Pure Color Crystal Gloss in
Plum. It stays put for about 20 minutes and begins to fade. All in all I
got about an hour worth of glimmer to my lips before it just faded
away. I am OK with it though because I just love the effect it leaves
behind, and love how it feels nice on my lips rather than greasy or
tacky.
Overall:
Plum is a lovely color when used side by side with your lipstick, when
used alone however it just fails to impress. It does however do such a
wonder on your lip color when used on top, that I would recommend this
one to you for the sparkling crystal shimmering effect, if that is what
you are looking for.
