Review of Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Gloss in Sugarcane (314)

When it comes to Estee Lauders Pure Color Gloss, and Pure Color Crystal Gloss, I have found that their Crystal Gloss seems to just deliver more when it comes to color, last, and shimmer. I recently picked up a pouch from Estee Lauder which contained both the regular Pure Color Gloss, and Pure Color Crystal Gloss. Within the pouch I got a mocha colored crystal gloss called Sugarcane (314).

In the tube the color did not really look like one I would like, but I figured when used on top of lipstick it would give off that gorgeous shimmering glittery effect that other Crystal Glosses in the collection have done for me in the past.

This particular color is a light brown, with a stunning and dazzling glitter effect added to the gloss color.

When Used Alone:

When Sugarcane is used alone without any lipstick underneath it does add a ton of shine and shimmer to the lips, while tinting the lips a neutral golden brownish color that is not too dark, nor too light. It has a golden hue to it, which is nice depending on what type of outfit you are wearing. Basically it goes well alone, and the golden shimmer is noticeable even at a distance.

When Used On Top Of Lipstick:

I decided to pair this one up with a deeper brown colored lipstick with fantastic results. It gives off a high beam sunshine glimmer to the lips, and is perfect for those with bronze kissed skin colors. One other lipstick colors it does not mesh as well, for instance, red or deep pinks. On top of lighter pinks it adds a nice peachy hue to the lips which also shimmer, shine and catch the light.

Last:

Most of the glosses in both the pure color, and crystal color collection do not have that much last going on, and the same rings true with Sugarcane. I got around a full hour of wear before it vanished, but as that hour ticked away the shimmer, shine and color did too, it fades slowly, but not too slowly.

I did not mind the low last though because I love how it looks both alone, and on top of lip color.

Overall:

It's a beautiful color, and finally one that can be worn alone, or paired with other lipstick colors. Not many in the set actually work well when used alone, but Sugarcane did a marvelous job. It's a more summery color in my opinion, but one many will enjoy.

The gloss does not have a sticky, greasy or tacky residue, so it feels good on your lips, more moisturizing than anything else.

I would recommend this color if you are new to the Pure Color Crystal Gloss collection, as it is one that will not disappoint.
