Review of Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Gloss in Honey Glaze (312)

When I purchased a sample pouch containing both Pure Color Gloss, and Pure Color Crystal Gloss by Estee Lauder there was 1 color in the set that I had a feeling I would not like, this one was Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Gloss in Honey Glaze.

In the tube this one did not do much for me, it had a shimmering effect sure, but as far as being called eye catching,or even remotely crystal looking, I'd have to say no. It looked rather bland, dull, and undesirable compared to the other colors in the Crystal Gloss set.

This one reminded me of glazed donuts as far as color goes, and the name honey glaze does in fact fit it quite well.

Was my first impressions about this color dead on though? Was Honey Glaze a dull color?
No!!!!

When Used Alone:

Honey Glaze when used alone does not really do a whole lot for me. It does add a nude tint of color to the lips, but the color is very drab and not eye catching. In fact it's rather nude and makes your lips look naked. It does however add a nice sparkling glossy shimmer to the lips, but so do most other lip glosses with flecks of glitter in them.

When used alone I just was not impressed in the least.

When Used On Top Of Lipstick:

When Honey Glaze Pure Color Crystal Gloss is used on top of lipstick color, it comes to life, and brings the lip color to life as well.

I paired this one up with multiple lip colors to see what the effect would be.

On red this one gives your lips a beautiful peachy tint, with a high beam shimmer and shine that is definitely eye catching.

When used on top of brown lipstick, Honey Glaze brings it to life by adding a silvery shimmer to it, which does not drown out the lip color, but instead brings it to life adding volume and depth to the lips.
On top of every color I paired this Crystal Gloss to, it won my heart again and again, and it gained my respect. The dullest looking color in the bunch proved to be one of the best when paired with lipstick.

Last:

The last is not very long when it comes to this lip gloss. I got about an hour of shimmer and shine before I had to reapply. It's not terrible, but it is also not that great.

I overlooked this flaw however because it is really a fantastic lipstick topper, and creates new hues, tints and colors, depending on what lip color you use underneath it.

Overall:

Yes, I would still recommend Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Gloss in Honey Glaze as a lip stick top coat, as it will deliver stunning results. The shimmer is appreciated, the texture feels great, and it's a little something different compared to the normal standard lip gloss you are used to. Go for it!
