Review of Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Rubellite (188)

I buy from Estee Lauder all of the time, and whenever I go in for a usual stock up on my favorite items, I end up walking out with a bunch of free samples, samples in which are actually full sized products; take Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Rubellite (188), which was one of my most recent freebies.

Normally when I get a free lipstick from Estee Lauder it is an ugly brown, nude, or a color so light that I end up just giving it away to someone else.

Rubellite however was not one of those colors, this Pure Color Lipstick actually quickly became one of my favorite lip colors recently.

The Color:

The thing that makes Rubellite so special to me is that the color delivers more than just one color as it begins to fade, it displays a different color. Colors in which I find to be all bright, beautiful, and eye catching.

The initial color is a deep red plum, like a purple maroon mix, with beautiful mini micro flecks of plum colored flecks of glitter. The glitter does not show to well, but that is a good thing because it is not tacky, the flecks simply add to the shimmer and shine of the color.

As this initial high shine color begins to fade, you are left with a much more matte raspberry color, with just a miniature hint of plum to the mix.

Just before the lipstick completely fades away it turns into a dark red, and is mostly a goner at that point. All in all though, the changing color actually works well for me, as I like to change my look up throughout the day. This lipstick sort of just does that for me.

The Last:

Pure Color Rubellite does last for quite some time, but it definitely does not have the best last I have ever gotten from a lipstick before. In fact, nothing has yet to beat Chanel's last when it comes to lipstick in my opinion.

Rubellite stays put for about 2 hours before you need a touch-up, which is not too terrible. If you plop a gloss on top of it however, it lasts for a shorter amount of time, which is odd because usually lipstick will last longer with gloss sealing in the color. This is not the case with Estee Lauder Pure Color Rubellite.

If you want this one, and you want it to last longer, skip out on covering the color in a gloss, leave it on as is, alone.

Overall:

A beautiful changing color, that feels nice on your lips, and has a decent amount of wear to it. I would still suggest it even though you cannot top it off with a gloss. The color is beautiful, and bright, and one that many would love, especially those who like those darker raspberry tones.
