I was recently given Fairy Dust by Paris Hilton, the set came with the perfume, shower gel and today's topic, the body lotion.
It comes in a stand up twist cap squeeze bottle like all celebrity
lotions tend to come in. It is a nice sea blue in color, with the exact
same fairy artwork etched onto the tube in silver, surrounded by little
stars. It's a cute tube, and matches well with Fairy Dust theme the
entire set has going on.
Before applying the lotion I had a strong hunch that it would contain
bits of glitter, which I was never fond of in lotion. Usually when
lotion contains glitter, the lotion absorbs leaving behind a messy ashy
dusting of scratchy glitter, which in turn dries out my skin or is too
abrasive.
When I applied Fairy Dust Body Lotion my initial hunch
was on target, as it does in fact contain bits of micro glitter. The
glitter however is so micro-fine that it didn't bother my skin at all.
The color of the flecks were also different compared to other glitter
lotions. The colors were a pastel like rainbow of multicolored flecks.
It's pretty when you move around in good lighting, and there is quite an
abundance of glitter in just one small drop of the lotion.
What I also liked about the glitter besides just the color was the
fact that it pretty much stays in place once the lotion absorbs into
your skin. Most lotions with glitter usually have the bits of glitter
flaking off in just moments, which make a mess, and sometimes end up in
my eyes. The micro-fine glitter in Fairy Dust stays put.
The scent matches the scent of Fairy Dust Perfume, a nice high note of
Gardenia is noted over anything else. The scent is not original though,
and is a scent I personally would enjoy more in a home candle than a
perfume or lotion to wear.
I still like it though, don't get me wrong. The perfume however was
disappointing due to the fact that the scent was not long lived at all.
The Fairy Dust Body Lotion however makes up in that department by delivering a strong and long fragrance to your body.
I get really long lived scent by first applying the Fairy Dust Lotion, and then spritzing myself with the perfume.
Overall:
I like Fairy Dust Body Lotion a lot, and I normally have never
been a fan of celebrity body lotions. Fairy Dust however is long lived,
it's feminine and floral, and I enjoy it. It's not a scent I'd wear
daily, and like I said, I'd rather of been given a Gardenia scented
candle, but all in all it's pretty damn good. Plus the glitter is pretty
and adds a nice sparkle to your skin.
