Review of Lush: Stardust Bath Bomb

I have become a Lush addict over the past 2 years, and whenever something new hits their website I try and order it as soon as possible because I know that most of their handmade soaps and products sell out fast. You have to act quickly because sometimes when something sells out, it's out for good.

I have been trying to avoid checking the site recently though, because whenever they add new items to their handmade bath products, I have to try it, and before I know it, I end up spending anywhere from $40 to $160 (Bad! I know!).

At any rate though, I was given Lush's handmade, Stardust Bath Bomb for my anniversary this past month, so I figured I may as well share my experiences with this handmade bath product.

First I wanted to state that Stardust looks just like the bomb that you can see on the Lush.com website. The bomb itself is 6.3 ounces in weight, has a nice light pink color to it, with a very cute shooting star design in the bomb. The bomb also clearly shows a few star shaped pieces of glitter. The star shaped glitter pieces thankfully were small enough as to where you could tell that they would easily go down the drain after your bath was drained.

I have had major issues with some of Lush's handmade products in the past, as to where the extra added pieces of glitter, or flowers wouldn't go down the drain, and I'd end up having to clean the tub out after bathing, which is annoying.

Scent:

Stardust didn't impress me much with it's bland semi floral scent when I first removed it from the plastic baggie it came in. Like with many handmade Lush products though, the scent tends to activate and become stronger once added to the bath water, so I knew I couldn't judge it too much until I actually went to use it.

Anyhow, I ran a bath, and plopped in Stardust. The bomb fizzed up pretty quickly and added a light layer of foam to the surface of the water. The water also turned a very pale pink. The scent though was far from what I'd consider floral. In fact Stardust Bath Bomb actually smelled more like leather.

That's right. Straight up, 100% leather! Although it is not a scent I hate, it's a scent that I definitely was not expecting, and also a scent I normally wouldn't want to bathe in.

Now if you are into the smell of leather, than Stardust would surely impress you, because that is what it smells like. However if you are sickened by the scent of leather, avoid it!

Issue:

I did come across one issue that was a pain in the butt (literately). The pieces of star shaped glitter were relatively sharp at the points, and I did end up getting pinched by a few of them. I definitely do not recommend you use Stardust for younger children's baths, because the stars are very pointy, and could probably break skin.

Overall:

I was not to impressed with Stardust. I didn't like the fact that the stars were sharp and pointy, and I wasn't too thrilled with the leather scent it gave off. Stardust did though leave my skin feeling very soft after getting out of the tub, however it's just not a bath bomb that I would buy again.

Where To Buy:

For those still interested, you can pick up Stardust at any local Lush store, or at www.Lush.com. The price comes to $6.95.
