Review of Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub

Whenever I am shopping, I always (ritually) have to stop off into the facial care isle to see if there are any new products on the shelves that would appeal to me. Last weekend I hit the jackpot because there were a slew of new facial washes, lotions, and creams for me to pop into my cart.

I like mixing my facial care routine up, with new scrubs, cleansers, and so on. My latest find goes to Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub. It appealed to me simply because it was a facial scrub that came in a scent I had never seen facial scrubs come in before. Pink Grapefruit!

Although pink grapefruit is something I myself cannot stomach, I imagined I'd enjoy the scent while cleaning my face.

Appearance:

Simply put; Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub comes in a clear stand up tube. Inside of the tube you can easily see the pink colored facial scrub. You can also easily see the small micro-beads of scrub which is meant to exfoliate skin.

Product Promise:

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub promises to clear acne. From blemishes to blackheads. Not only that it also promises to smooth out rough dry skin without over drying your skin. The promised result is healthier looking skin!

My Use:

I popped the top off of Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub, and squeezed out a decent quarter sized dot into my palm. I then ran a little water on top of that to allow scrubbing the cleaner into my face easier on my skin.

There were a ton of micro-beads, and grains inside of the scrub. More than I had imagined. It felt more like I was rubbing some really gritty toothpaste onto my face. Perhaps even a little too gritty. Those with sensitive skin should avoid this one all together, because it does slightly hurt when scrubbing into your face.

The scent hit me as I began to scrub it into my face, but the scent was not a pleasing grapefruit scent that I associate grapefruit with. It was more or less like a very subtle fruit punch, mixed with lime scent. It was nice, but far from being what I would grapefruit.

One thing I noticed about Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub was the fact that it was not foaming up at all. No matter how much I scrubbed, there was nothing foaming about it.
When I rinsed off though, I noticed the foam forming in the sink... just not on my face!? It seems it only forms foam/bubbles when running water hits it.

Results:

After rinsing my skin did feel pretty dazzling. Clean, and an uplifting punchy scent left behind for me to whiff in with every subtle step I took. Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub also lived up to its promise of not drying my skin out. In fact it left my skin feeling pretty moisturized, and in a good way, not a greasy nasty left behind residue kind of way.

As far as clearing acne, I would say no. I did however notice that since using it, there have been no new major breakouts. My skin reacts nicely to it.

Overall:

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub is a nice new scrub added to the Neutrogena line of products. It leaves skin feeling clean, fresh, and moisturized, while combating break outs. It's a winner in my book, and I have no problem recommending it to others.

Do note though, that Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub may not work wonders for those with major acne.

Pricing and Availability:

I picked up a tube of Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash Foaming Scrub at my local Target for $5.99. You can likely find it for less online by doing a quick google search.
