Review of New CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Everbloom Kiss

This past weekend I was sent a freebie makeup product to test. I love freebies because even when they suck, it's really no big loss.

When given the opportunity to test out CoverGirl's newest Outlast Lipstain, I was thrilled. Packaged nicely, and sent to me was Everbloom Kiss.

It comes in a stand up tube that was a nice pink color. When I requested Everbloom Kiss as the color to send, I was excited to see how beautiful the color looked based off of the tubes pink color.

The tube itself though is no tube. In fact Outlast Lipstain looked more like a simple magic marker with a see through lid covering the magic marker like application tip.

I opened up the marker/tube, and applied the lipstain to my lips in a easy sweeping motion. The color began to saturate my lips immediately, but the color looked like nothing I was expecting from such a pretty pink tube.

The color was in fact a deep maroon like red. I personally do not like deep maroon red colors on my lips, so naturally I did not take well to Everbloom Kiss.

However I bet you are wondering if other colors would be worth buying?

I'm going to have to say no, and here is why.

The color aside, CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain made my lips feel extremely dry, which naturally causes me to lick my lips.

Even after licking my lips though, the color remained, however it was fading.

After taking one sip of root beer though, the color was nowhere to be found. It had vanished. I swallowed it down with my sip of root beer.

From past experiences with lip stains, I do know that lip stains are supposed to last a hell of lot longer than a mere 10 minutes. CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain hit the 10 minute mark and vanished. That's pretty god awful for a product so pricey.

As far as scent and flavor goes, CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Everblossom Kiss smells faint, with a very subtle hint of berry. On the lips it tastes a little berry like, but at the same time it has a very medicinal aftertaste that is pretty yucky, but it is tolerable.

Drugstore.com has them up for grabs at the lowest price at $7.50. However with a 10 minute last, it's not even something a dollar store should be carrying.

I wanted a simple lip stain that would last all day, without drying my lips out. Oh well.

Overall:

Sorry CoverGirl. I usually love your new products, but this one does not do justice.
