Review of Pure Ice Nail Polish: Heart Breaker

This past weekend I came across an old nail polish company that I used to buy as a teenager. Back in those days Pure Ice Nail Polish was all the rage, and it was not uncommon to have to spill out nearly $10.00 for a bottle of their delectable colors.

I am not sure what happened over the years, but Pure Ice Nail Polish can be picked up for more than half that price. In fact, I found a slew of them available at Walmart for just $2.00. Now normally I would buy a bottle of Nicole by Opi, but with Pure Ice being such a cheap nail treat, I figured I would buy up a few of their colors, instead of just one bottle of Opi.

I managed to scoop up 3 of the Pure Ice nail colors, and in the store, by the color I was seeing through the bottle, I thought that Heart Breaker would be my top favorite color out of the 3 I ended up buying.

The Color:

Heart Breaker was a gorgeous green, blue, yellow mixture that reminded me of the color a mermaids tail would be. A beautiful mythical mixture of sea like colors that drew me in.

The Color on the nail:

Heart Breaker sadly looked nothing like what I saw through the small glass nail polish bottle. The very first coat of Heart Breaker was nearly invisible. It left behind a clear gloss coat with a very, very small touch of what looked like green micro-flecks of shimmering glitter. The color however was not bold at all, and I knew it would take a lot of coats of the polish to see any results as far as color was concerned.

The second coat did pretty much the same thing. A high beam clear glossy finish, with flecks of micro-glitter.

By this time, I knew that no matter how many coats of polish I added to my nails, it wouldn't matter. The ultimate result, 5 coats later was basically the same as the first coat. Clear with a greenish tint to the nails when I moved them around.

Overall:

I had the highest hope for this particular color by Pure Ice, and sadly this color disappointed me the most in the bunch. If I wanted a clear gloss nail polish I would have bought just that, unfortunately Heart Breaker is nothing more than a tinted clear coating.

It is really too bad too, because the color you see through the bottle is stunning. It just does not show up that way on the nails.
