I remember around 8 or 9 years ago when Pure Ice Nail Polish began
hitting shelves, that the cost was around $7.00 or so. I loved the
colors that Pure Ice had available at the time too, bold metallic metal
nail colors that were stunning to look at through the glass bottle, and
equally as stunning on the nails.
However as a teenager buying them up
like collectibles was impossible considering I worked a weekend job and
made $5.00 an hour.
Years have gone by though, and I have pretty much avoided nail polish
in general, till more recently when my nail biting habit was stopped. I
focused primarily on Nicole by Opi nail polish, but this past weekend
while browsing in a local Walmart, I found my eyes being more drawn to
Pure Ice Nail Polishes due to the inviting colors, and $2.00 price tag. I
could get 3 bottles of Pure Ice for the same price it would have cost
me for just one bottle of Opi.
Up on the chopping block today we have In The Mood, which is the most recent color I did my nails up in.
The Color:
In The Mood, by Pure Ice is a stunning color through the bottle. It
has a fairy like wispy lavender mixed with a touch of blue, combined it
looks like stunning Caribbean blue waters. The polish itself has very,
very fine micro-flecks of silver glitter added to it, which gives it
that fairytale like vibe. Seeing that most of my wardrobe consists of
mainly blue and purple colors, I figured this polish would match my
normal casual ware perfectly.
My Use:
Now initially I tested In The Mood on my blue nails, and it acted as a
gorgeous sparkly top coat. Using In The Mood alone however is a
different story.
After trying out In The Mood as a top coat, I must say I was
impressed. It added the right amount of glowing shine, and a neat hazy
blue purple glaze to my already painted blue nails. It was a Midnight
Fantasy type finish.
When used alone however, Pure Ice In The Mood does not deliver as much
bold coloring as the bottle leads you to believe it will. In fact it
too 4 coats of polish for me to see any real color results.
Thankfully
though, the polish dries quickly, so applying coat after coat was not
that big of a deal. It was however disappointing to have to use so much
nail polish just to see bolder results.
Overall:
You get what you pay for with this nail polish. It was very cheap, and
even though it took quite a few coats to see any results worthy of
wearing, I have to say I like the color. It's pretty, it dries fast, and
it's a good color to match up with a pair of regular blue jeans.
All in all, it could have been better, but for the price I'd still recommend it.
