Review: Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner

When I buy eyeliner I usually buy something different every single time. I like trying things that are new, but mostly I like trying things that promise me something nothing else does.

When I came across Revlon's Colorstay Eyeliner I wanted to try it based solely off of its bold promise.
According to the package Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner would stay put for 16 hours. No smudging, no fading and no smearing.

To me that seemed like a crock, but hey, they were confident enough to promise such a claim, so why not put their claim to the test?

Does Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner really last for 16 hours without fading, smudging or smearing?
The eyeliner itself went on smoothly and clean. There was no breaking of the eyeliner, no caking of it and no drying feeling when I applied it. This was a plus, but it was also something I have seen before, time and time again. It goes on smoothly, but will it last as long as it says?

I applied the eyeliner at 8 in the morning. I headed to work to begin my 8 hour work day. I checked myself in the mirror at noon and was surprised to see that my eyeliner was still in place. I did however notice a very small smudge near the outer corner of both eyes. I wiped it away, it was not really a big deal though, because usually by noon other eyeliner's have giant smudges in that same area, so seeing that the smudge was very small was OK with me.

By the time my shift was up, we were at hour 8. The eyeliner still looked nicely put, and in place. I did, however, notice some discoloration on my upper eyelid crease. The black eyeliner did streak the upper lid with a faded black color.

This is a pretty normal occurrence for me, but it was only hour 8, and the promise that the package boldly claimed was already proved false.

By hour 10 my upper eyelid has a much more obvious black crease, and the eyeliner itself on my lids looked very faded. Not any worse than any other eyeliner I have tried in the past, but faded enough as to where I could definitely say this liner does not live up to its 16 hour promise.

Overall:

Although Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner did not 100% live up to the 16 hour promise, it was in fact one of the longest lasting eyeliners I have ever used. I've used other liners with the same 16 hour promise, and they did not live up to it quite as strongly as Revlon's Colorstay Eyeliner did.

Although it's not perfect, it's damn well near it, and I highly recommend it.
