Review: Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub

It's not new news that I am completely in love with Target's exclusive Soap & Glory brand of bath and body products. Whenever I go in, I pick up something new, and frankly I'm buying things faster than the company can come out with new ones.

My most recent pick up was bought on a whim, and seeing that everything else I have tried from the line has been pleasantly delicious, I figured Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub would be just as pleasant.

It comes in an adorable pink plastic jug, with a standard screw off cap. It is meant to polish away dry skin, and will leave it feeling soft and velvety. It contains notes of peach, and sea salt is added into the mix for exfoliation. It's supposed to be used by those who have dry skin. I never really have dry skin, but in harsh winter months my legs, and face suffer the most. I figured this stuff would be a good remedy, plus I love the scent.

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub smells exactly like all other products in the line. A delicious blend of musk, refreshing flowers, and a hint of beer (I never noticed the beer smell though, till my boyfriend pointed it out, and I have to agree, it does in ways have a sour beer like aroma to it). I'm not a drinker, but I love the way this stuff smells.

All of the items I've used in the line have a long lasting scent, and I figured this scrub would too.

At home I unscrewed the cap, and took a look at the scrub. It is mostly a light brown color, with tons of visible beads of salt for exfoliating.

The scrub is extremely thick, and has a clay like quality to it.

I ran a bath, and put the scrub to use on my legs and body. It's a little harsh as the beads of sea salt are pretty thick. I rubbed it into my skin, and enjoyed the scent it gave off while I did so. I worried that the sea salt would dry out my skin even more, because my skin usually gets very tight and dry when I use anything that contains salt.

I noticed though as I scrubbed it around that it was leaving behind a residue that felt a little greasy, but soft at the same time.

Once I rinsed off my skin was left feeling a little like velvet, but for me it was just too borderline greasy for my liking.

Out of the shower, my skin felt soft, but it definitely was not moisturized as I expected it would be. My skin though was not left feeling dry though, so that was a plus.

Another disappointing aspect of the scrub was the fact that it was the only product in the Soap & Glory line that did not leave the scent behind on my skin. This is why I have been buying the line so often lately, for the long lasting scent!

Unfortunately Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub does not have a lasting scent, and it was a major buzz kill.

I paid $9.99 on the 10.1 ounce jug, and it was probably the first in the line that I was not happy with.

Overall:

This is definitely no miracle cure for dry skin. It barely moisturizes, and is very harsh. The scent is also obsolete after I rinsed off. Those with sensitive skin should pass up on this one all together!
